You can use the hard ticket. I don't like the magic band and never use it

Just to be clear, you do not "put FastPasses ON" any kind of media, ticket or MagicBand.

You make your FP+ reservations in your MyDisneyExperience account and that account
and those FP reservations can be accessed by (used by)
either a MagicBand or a plastic RFID ticket (or both at once.)

So do they send you the MagicBand AND a RFID ticket or do you have to go to guest services to get that? I'm not really sure I want to wear the band though I know it would be awfully convenient.

If you are staying at a WDW resort, you will be sent a MB (or given one upon check-in.)

If you are not a WDW resort, you will have an RFID ticket.

If you have a MB and WANT an RFID ticket, you can ask for one...
either at the resort concierge, or at any ticket booth or Guest Relations.
