Just wondering what happens if you have a FastPass and the ride is temporarily closed during your FP window? Do they let you return with your FastPass when it opens? Or is that FastPass lost?

Whenever we have been in this position we have been told that the FastPass would be valid for the rest of the day (when the ride comes back up again).

Yah, it is actually a good thing as long as the ride comes back that day. You can use it any time you want.

A few years ago we had a Space Mtn FP for like 10PM and the ride broke down. I brought it back with me the next morning and explained what happened and they let me use it a day late.

A couple of times I've been met at the entrance by a CM offering alternate ride. Once when Hyperspace first opened they were offering Star Tours. But then another time BTMRR didn't come back until 10-15 min before the park closed and they didn't offer another ride, just said it would be back up before the park closed, so no other FP.

It also works the other way around if you get stuck on a ride. We were once stuck on POC for at least 30 minutes, which made us miss our FP for another ride. We informed the CM at that ride and they let us on. I've heard the same is true if your FP conflicts with a dining reservation, although I've never tried that one personally.

Both of those situations are at the discretion of the CM. When getti stuck on a ride, I'd tell start wth the CMs at the ride that was down, they most likely can offer you a digital FP from the handheld device. For ADRs, if you have one that might conflict, don't pull the FP until it won't conflict. As far as using an FP the next day when a ride is down, that's pixie dust and I wouldn't expect that to be the case either.

When it happened to me, I did not expect it at all. But thought it would not hurt to ask. I took it as pixie dust for sure!

The dining reservations doesn't work. A lady in front of me tried that and the cast member turned them away. If you have reservations you know you cannot get a Fastpass for that time. I could see it working if you do not know what time you will get the fast pass but it's clearly stated prior to getting it so I can see why the cast member turned the lady away for it.

What I heard was that as long as it was a table service restaurant, it would work. Although I had the same thought ... why pull the FP if you know it's going to conflict with your ADR?

I could see bringing up the FP issue at a restaurant if the reason you missed the return time wasn't your fault, such as if the restaurant is busy and service takes longer than usual. For example, one time we had a reservation but still had to wait over an hour to be seated. We didn't have any FP at the time, but if we did maybe we would have asked if they can do anything about it. I've heard they have the ability to validate an expired FP at restaurants, I just wouldn't expect them to if the scheduling mistake was my doing.

What happens when a ride breaks down is the FP line is longer later in the day because more people hold FP they can use at that time. It's kind of like when they didn't enforce the FP times and then the FP lines were super long in the evening as people collected them all day. Splash was down during our Sunday visit and when it came up we pulled FP. When we used the FP we waited in a much longer FP line than I've ever waited in before. It was backed up to fill most of the upstairs part of the queue. This I am sure was mostly due to the ride being down for a few hours. The parks weren't even busy that day.

If that happens then you're holding a pass good for any time of the day. no matter how busy! :)

Something happened tonight and I thought of this thread. While waiting for my FP window by SM, a group tried to use FPs that were about 90 minutes expired. The CM pulled out a list, and said that the ride reopened before their window closed, so they couldn't honor the FP. They argued that they are turned away at the start of the window, but she said they had a whole hour. A lead was called, and I was sure they would be let in, but he said no too. When our window opened the line was backed up to the ramp, and they were honoring some FP, but they were checking each against the list. And then the ride cascaded again while we were there. So I'm sure there were more people going to be turned away later tonight because it reopened within an hour.

I think that's awful. Maybe the guests should keep track of whether the ride was opened or not within the window, but I feel like customer service should rule in this situation.

The CM did say after they left that if the lead didn't have to step in she would have made an exception. But, depending on how many people they thought were going to come back, there was a really, really long FP return line. So I can see how they have to draw a line somewhere or it becomes terrible customer service for everyone else.

Thanks for the feedback. It sounds like they are fair.... letting you have a make up, but not letting those through that try to lie.

Sorry, didn't mean to use a harsh term. I was just referring to the post above about trying to reschedule the FP even though the rude came back online before their FP window.

I read it that they tried at the beginning of their window - say at 1720 in a 1715-1815 window - and that the ride had come up towards the end of their window - say at 1800. But maybe I misread it.
