How would you be able to use fastpasses and parent swap for the rides that have both?

Yes, and it is a wonderful way to free up entrance media to be used on multiple FP rides at the same time. :thumbsup2

Last time we went we had 4 tickets (2 of our kids were under 3). We'd get 2 Indy FPs and 2 Splash FPs. DH would take our oldest on Indy and I'd get a rider swap. Then head to Splash and I'd go first with DD#2, and DH would get a rider swap and use for him and my oldest.

Basically, the first two to go use the FPs (so for us that would be one adult and then my oldest son). Then the next two people (usually the other adult and my oldest son) would use teh child swap pass.

We will have 2 adults, a 6-year-old and a 2-year-old... so we will have 3 tickets in hand. Is there any way to combine FP and child swap to obtain multiple FP at the same time with only 3 tickets?
Thanks for helping me figure all of this out!

I have never used child swap before, how exactly does it work. We will have 4 adults and 1 child. So can 2 adults go while the others watch the child and then they go when we are back? Don't we get out at a differnet spot than where we got on? how does that work? Do we have to use the single rider line or can we use the regular line or fast pass line?

Kind of, but the first adult will have to ride alone. This is how it would work... Get 1 FP for Soarin. Approach the FP line at the designated time with your family and request a child swap pass. The first adult rides alone while the other 3 wait or ride something else. The second adult is able to ride with one guest so they can take the 6 year old with them.

What I would do is use 2 tickets to obtain FP for rides you know your 6 year old would like to ride twice (first time with the FP and then second time as the guest on the child swap pass). Then you can use the other single ticket to obtain a FP for an attraction where the 6 year old is either too short or too scared to ride and that doesn't offer single rider (Tower of Terror?)
Hope that makes sense.

You go to the entrance of the ride and ask the CM for a child swap pass. The pass is good for 2 people to ride. So, adults could go and then swap off with the other two.

Brilliant! I swear, I want to take some of you people with me on vacation!! :goodvibes

This what we did with a group of six. two adults four children. We got six fastpasses. When we went to the entrance, we asked for a baby swap pass, which is good four four people. 1 adult and three children went first. Got back, the I went, took one child with me with the baby swap pass, and the other two kids used the other two fastpasses. So basically on each fastpass ride, the adults went once each and the kids went twice each.

Either WDW is different from DL on this, or everyone on this thread is getting away with something. :)

The rider swap passes at WDW are not meant to be used in conjuction with Fastpasses. They are meant to be used so that a family does not have to stand in the stand-by line twice. If you are entering through the Fastpass line, they will not give you a Rider Switch pass.

At DL, do they let you ask for a Rider Switch pass before walking into the Fastpass line? Wow, that would open up a whole world of possibilities for us.

Yes, absolutely they do! :thumbsup2 I never felt like I was getting away with something... :confused3

We have DS 3.5 and have made over 15 trips to DL since he was born. Hopefully by our trip on Memorial Day he will finally hit the 40 inch mark (he's about a half inch short at this point). But, my DH and I still love the big rides and hit them almost every trip. Here's how we do it ride by ride to make the most of FP, swapping and Single Rider lines:

Space: Get one FP for the first adult and then use Child Swap (get to go in the exit and ride almost immediately)

Splash: We rarely ride, but use Single Rider when I do (DH has NEVER been on the ride, which will change once DS can ride "How Do" as he calls it)

Indy: Single Rider (enter at the exit and bypass almost the entire line)

BTMRR: Get one FP for the first adult and then use Child Swap (functions like an extra FP most of the time, but every once in a while they will send you in the exit instead)

Matterhorn: If you have itty bitties (under 35 inches) or your kids are scared, the Matterhorn swap works very differently than the other rides. You all have to stand in line until you get to the Green Umbrella. Then you can get the Swap Pass for the second adult to use to enter through the ride exit.

Screamin': Use Single Rider when its available, but if the line is short enough that they aren't running Single, then just standby

Soarin': Get an FP. Then when you are ready to ride ask the CM whether Child Swap or Single Rider is going to be quicker. Swap acts as an extra FP.

ToT: DH usually skips this one, so I just use FP. You can get a Swap, which I am pretty sure works like an extra FP.

GRR: Never ride, so no idea how this one works. Can you tell we're not water ride people :rotfl2:

Star Tours & Mullholland Madness (soon to be Goofy's Sky School): With both of these under major refurb/retheme it is unknown how they will work when they reopen.

Through judicious use of FP and getting only what we will actually need (typically only one per ride) we can hold FP for most rides that we want simultaneously. This frees up FP for Buzz (although it appears that is a thing of the past) and Autopia (my little one's new fave ride).
