I've got a room only reservation at CBR for 5 nights April 30 - May 5, 2014. If I buy a one or two day ticket, can I book fastpasses for each of my nights that I am staying on site? Not sure what days we can actually be in the parks due to competition. I am trying to maximize our park time, which will be limited due to being at cheer competition for a good chunk of the stay. Thanks!

In your case, you can get FPs for the number of days on your linked ticket.

I know that they say that the parks release Fastpasses the day of to be booked at the kiosks in the parks. Does that mean they get released and can also be booked through MDE? Or so you have to wait in a kiosk line? Would I be able to book the ones released that morning through MDE before I get to the parks?
My ticket will be linked as soon as I get them.

I've read from others that the ones released morning-of are available to all, not just at the kiosks.

Interested - i hadn't considered this. I have an AP, but i recommended that my friend start with a shorter length ticket because she could add to it if she wants to - but i hadn't considered that she won't be able to book FPs for all her days in advance if she does that...

You can only book fast pass for the length of your ticket. I unfortunately learned this the hard way. And you cannot upgrade your ticket except in person at the parks, even if you bough your ticket from disney itself. ( packages are different and can be changed around up until 45 days before). I have learned this the hard way. So err on the side of buying a longer ticket.

Sorry you had to find out the hard way but thank you for sharing the info. Will definitely help me decide what to do. I did know about the upgrade being only available at the park.

I'm kind of having a similar problem. I am using a 2-day ticket I bought last year to qualify for the "free dining" promotion. I had already bought my tickets via Undercover Tourist, then decided "free dining" would be a better deal. Anyway, now I only have a 2-day ticket to start with and tried calling to either upgrade it to a 7-day ticket or to an Annual Pass. No luck. You would think that since the tickets are now linked in our MDE account that they could just grab that and upgrade it via the phone. No can do. :sad2: I ended up scheduling my first day which will be at Epcot and then the first Friday of SWW. I will upgrade my ticket the night I get there and then schedule the rest.

I have an additional question on this. We have a 5 day pass and 7 night room reservation, are we going to be able to pick the days we use FP? Or are we going to have to use them the first 5 days?

I don't know if your 2013 tickets are dated earlier than last year's June 2, 2013 price increase but for sure, they are affected by the February 23, 2014 price increase. We on the Disboards warn everyone that in order to price-bridge your old tickets to receive "today's" full gate price value, you have to use them to enter a theme park first before you do your upgrade. If you upgrade them when you arrive, before you have entered a theme park, you will owe the difference between what they were worth when you got them in 2013 and what they're worth now (in addition to the upgrade cost). A quick glance at ticket price history gives these 2 possible price differences:

2-Day Base Ticket purchased in 2013 before June 2, 2013 price increase. Value $176. Today $188. Difference $12 x 1.065 tax = $12.78

2-Day Base Ticket purchased in 2013 after June 2, 2013 price increase. Value $184. Today $188. Difference $4 x 1.065 tax = $4.26

If you're anxious to get working on your FP+ choices, stay with your plan. If saving that cost difference is important, use them first before upgrading.

Yes, you will be able to pick which days to use them. The 2 I am allowed right now I used on my first full day and my last full day. The system "knows" and won't let you book any more days than you have tickets connected.

POOHsie, you and others have done an excellent job in educating DISBoarders on "use first, then upgrade." I am very thankful for the info I have read on numerous threads from you and others like Robo and MesaBoy. :worship:

Obviously for my 1 ticket it wouldn't break the bank either way, but for a family it could get costly. Not to mention I just hate to leave money on the table so to speak! But I plan to go over to the MK my first night and catch the evening entertainment and upgrade my ticket and be ready to go the next morning.

Good luck and enjoy your visit! There's a Guest Relations location at City Hall just as you enter MK, on the left. If the person isn't familiar with price-bridging, go to another CM. If you want to upgrade upon your exit of MK, there's also Guest Relations outside the gate on the left (when facing the lagoon) and if any ticket booths are open, you can stop there. :)
