Fastpass usage?

Hello Disney Fans,

Have been trying to sort through all the new information on the Fastpass + and everything else attached to it.
We are going in May during the first week so predictions are that parks won't be too bad when we are there. However I know it will be important to get fastpasses for rides such as TSM in DHS and Peter Pan's flight in MK etc.

We are not staying onsite, so can we still use our tickets to obtain FP they old way or is it now obsolete? Again just thinking that once we arrive at DHS as an example we would like to get FP for TSM and for one of TofT or RnRC.

Thanks for any help!

Staying off site you will make same day FP selections at a kiosk at the gates upon arrival.. the old system is in the process of being phased out. Animal Kingdom changed over to the new system in December/13. Magic Kingdom is making the change over as we speak, January 11/14 is the date for MK that I've read. No dates yet for EPCOT or DHS.. but word is that the changes are imminent there as well.

I'm sure there will be bugs to be worked out.
But on the upside.. no more sprinting across DHS at rope drop to grab those elusive FPs, you'll be able to get them at or near the main entrance :)

Thank you for the update.
I will definitely enjoy not having to sprint at DHS at rope drop!

so from what I understand after we finish with our first FP, simply come back to the main gate area do get another one?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure you will be able to make the same number of FPs at the gate all at once, that an onsite guest can make on the My Disney Experience site or app. You shouldn't have to go back to the entrance

3 FPs.. same day, same park.

At DHS, though, the rides are tiered - so you can get FP+ for TSM or RnRC, but not both. Tower of Terror is tier 2, so you're fine there.

Just a bit of warning. We just got back and at AK they are totally paperless FP. The lines for the FP+ for non-disney guests were pretty long (at least 20 people). We saw this at the Everest FP+ place especially.
The Disney staff were super helpful and fast with the process but it was challenging for people that did not know how it worked. As you are on the Dis, you must have done your homework, but I just wanted to make you aware of the possible wait.

Don't be discouraged by this post, please. I just wanted to give you the heads up.

We're staying onsite with a package and trying to make our FP+ selections with the MyDisneyExperience website. Here's my warning: have plenty of patience because the website is frustratingly slow with frequent crashes. The mobile app is slightly better, but the functionality is different so I often have both going at the same time, the website to make and change the FP+ and the mobile app to check the itinerary once it's made. :badpc:

So if you're on off-site guest with a paper ticket, you book your FP's upon entry into the park. But what are you "given" since you don't have a magic band that has the FP encoded onto it?

I read on another thread here that they don't give you anything...you can take a picture or get an email...not sure how that would work when you get to the ride though?

instead of the magic bands, the offsite guests were using tickets that looked like credit cards. They scan the cards on the the FP Mickey Heads and work the same way as MBs.

Can anyone tell me where the kiosks are for fastpass reservations. Someone said front gate but another said it is at the entrance to Everest? I am an offsite guest so will need to get these as soon as I arrive. Can I get a FP for all of the attractions we want to do or does it limit how many reservations you make?

Right now you can choose 3 attractions per day at one park only. You can choose your 3 fp's for the day when you get to the kiosk. There are kiosks located in different locations at each park. I would ask a cm at the entrance for locations. Some of the FP locations are very busy while others are not.

Good luck! :)

There are clusters of kiosks around each park, including the entrance areas. They are posted here somewhere but I can't find it just now, and also well marked on park maps. You can make three FP+ selections per person at one time, but that's all you get each day, and only at one park per day.

This is definitely going to be a big change for people, and it'll impact how we tour the parks for sure!

I can imagine the FP kiosks would be quite a long line when the park opens then?

I check in on Sunday. So far so good with booking on this end. I am very excited to be able to form my own opinion.

There are multiple kiosks at all the parks. Touringplans.com lists them as well as easywdw.com.

I think you'd find this article on Fastpass+ and MK useful and reassuring - I know I did.

Also, it looks like Disney will be allowing off-site ticket holders to make their Fastpass+ reservations from their phones and online. See this article for the details.
