Okay...I feel really dumb asking this question, but it's been a couple of years since I've been to WDW and I've heard there have been some changes to the program. So, how does it work now? Can you get a FP for one ride, then immediately go get another for a different ride? Or do you have to use the first FP or wait for a certain period of time before getting a second?

Thanks for your help!

when you get a fp it has a time frame listed on the bottom for the time you can use it.once the first time listed is past you can get another fp for any ride . also we had no problem using "expired "... meaning later than the end of the time frame, they just waved us on and said "that's fine" or something similar.

Be wary of fastpasses though...

There are people on this forum who would discombobulate your house if they found out you were using the things...

You have been warned ;)

ps. Fastpass rules :teeth:

We were told that you could get another fastpass either after you used the first ones OR when 2 hours have passed.

As a general strategy you should get your next FP before using your first one. This will start the clock on the second FP while you go on the ride for the first one.

To better assist Guests, all Walt Disney World Fastpass tickets now list the time that you can get your next Fastpass directly on the ticket.

For example: A Fastpass for Space Mountain Will Read:

Return Between
11:00am
and
12:00am

Your next Fastpass will be available after:
11:05am

When Disney's Fastpass service debuted, you were able to get a Fastpass after your return time window opened or two hours from the time you obtained the Fastpass. While this is still a good rule of thumb, based on usage, the computer may allow you to get another Fastpass sooner. As a result, always look at your current Fastpass ticket to find out when you can get your next one. Simple! :)

If I understand correctly, some rides will allow you to get another FP quicker than others. Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion were mentioned. Can anybody confirm this from their own experience? And does anyone know any other rides which allow this? Would the 2004 Unofficial Guide have this info? I only have my old 2000 edition.

Last time I was at MK, I got a Fastpass for HM and at the bottom it said I could get another FP 5 minutes later... Don't know if this is typical of HM fastpasses though.

I think it really depends on the crowd flow. I've had 2 FP at one time for many rides. Test Track and I think HISTA, Pooh and Peter Pan, BTMRR, SPlash Mountain, and HM, Indiana Jones, VOTLM, and WWTBAM.

The only place I haven't been able to have 2 at one time was AK. Each time we went it was @3:00 so most FP were gone for the day.

When I've been able to have 2 at a time were when we got to the parks for EE.

Hi Ann,

I believe the '04 edition of the Unofficial Guide does list the attractions for which the regular FASTPASS rules do not apply. (They're the Jungle Cruise, Haunted Mansion and Tower of Terror, IIRC). As Jen in MA notes, the JC and HM will allow a second FASTPASS five minutes after you get one from those attractions, while ToT allows one an hour later.

As cheerdaddy notes, most FASTPASS attractions will tell you the time at which you can get another FASTPASS most of the time. But I have a FASTPASS from Buzz Lightyear from this past Tuesday that doesn't list that "next FASTPASS time," so it's probably a good idea to have at least a passing familiarity with the FASTPASS rules.

If you're using the 2000 edition of the Guide, note that all of the touring plans have been revised for the 2004 edition. The new plans can save, for example, an additional 90 minutes of waiting in line at the Magic Kingdom on a busy day.

Hope this helps. Thanks for reading the Guide!

Sincerely,

Len

I thought that I read somewhere that if your return time was 2 or more hours away that you could get a new Fastpass right away.

By the way, Len, what kind of crowds can I expect in May? 21st to 26th? Its the weekend before Memorial Day through the Wednesday before....

After just two hours or maybe less, not right away.

Apparently the time you can get another Fastpass appears to be different for each ride and all these next-fetch times can vary depending on park crowding.

Doesn't hurt to see if you can get another Fastpass for a different ride sooner than the time printed (the worst case time).

So suppose you get a Space Mountain Fastpass at 10 AM and the return time is 3 PM, and let's say the next-fetch time printed was noon.

Then if Haunted Mansion had a 10 minute next-fetch time on that day (which you don't know) you could still get a Fastpass for Haunted Mansion at 10:10 . However the next fetch time printed on it would be one hour and 50 minutes away, namely the same noon time as shown on your first Fastpass.

Suppose you now go to Splash Mountain by 10:20 and its next-fetch time is the full 2 hours (which you also don't know). You will fail to get a third Fastpass because you need to wait until noon (not 12:20) for that ride since noon was printed on the previous Fastpass.

Hey scootron,

I checked the Disney website, and as of yet Disney's not set the park hours in such a way that would show they're expecting large crowds during that time. That is, we can usually determine crowds by seeing how long the Magic Kingdom is open.

On exceptionally crowded days (e.g., Christmas), the Magic Kingdom opens at 8 am. So any day the regular park operating hours start at 8 am would be very crowded.

On very crowded days (e.g., most summer days), the park will be open from 9 to 10:30 or 11 p.m. So if you see park hours that extend well into the evening, expect crowds that compare to a typical summer day.

A park closing time of around 8 to 10 pm corresponds (roughly) to a moderately crowded park. Anything before 8 pm is probably a day of light attendance.

Based on this, it looks like most of your days between May 21 and 26 are days of moderate attendance, with a couple of exceptions. So it's not as bad as one might think.

Hope this helps. Let me know if there's anything else we can help with!

Sincerely,

Len
