We are venturing to DL for our first ever trip to California. My children are now teenagers and have made it clear that they want to sleep in a litle this vacation...I think our multiple commando WDW vacations are coming back to haunt them :rotfl2:

Warning>>this may be a loaded question...I'm just trying to figure out how to balance the "wants" of everyone in my family...

Anyway, if Dh & I decide to hit the parks early, can we obtain FP's with the kid's tickets if the tickets were not validated for park admission?? I'm thinking we could enjoy the park ourselves a little, pick up FP's along the way for all of us, meet the kids late morning, and tour the rest of the day together.

Thoughts??

No. To get a FP, each ticket must have been scanned at one of the parks that day.

Where are you coming from, Helene? If you're from a different time zone, your kids may still be able to 'sleep in' and get up early, if they take advantage of their jet lag. For example, 2 friends of mine from Eastern time are flying out to meet me at DL in July. We'll be getting up at 6 am for MM, but to them it will feel like 9 am!

Completely agree with helenb.

WDW veterans often don't think about how the time zone difference is MUCH different than a trip to WDW. (we're from the central time zone).....& MUCH better for touring early in uncrowded bliss.

The first 2-3 days at DLR will allow the Central & Eastern time zone visitor to easily get up for 8am gen. adm. & even 7am MM. Absolutely factor this into your strategic plan.

:)

We will be @ DL the for the last 3 days of our 10-day vacation.

I'll play it by ear and see how exausted they are at that point of the trip. Maybe we can compromise on one "sleep-in" day depending on what we have planned.

Wow, my boys are 17 and the last thing they want to do on a DLR vacation is sleep in! They had straight for Splash Mountian and ride it about 5 times in a row before a line appears. Maybe they could sleep in on a non DLR day? Anyway, I'd head over without them too but, they might also miss out on rides later because they have less FPs. We also go back for an afternoon nap. Teens and all. ;)
