I hope this makes sense...we will be going to WDW with myself, DH, DS who can ride everything and DD who can't ride everything. My question is on the rides we will need fastpass for, would it be best to use all 4 of our tickets to get fastpasses and then ride swap or could we just use 2 fastpasses and DS ride again with DH as soon as we get off without a FP? I hope I made that understandable! I have never had to use ride swap before, so I am not sure how this would work! TIA for advise and suggestions!

i have done it both ways both child swap and through fast pass and let my older child ride both times that way me and my wife both had some one the ride with and not by our self makes the ride alot more enjoyable to watch your kids face

combining the two has always worked well for me, so instead of getting 3 FP I got 2, then I still had 2 spare tickets to get another set of FP, assuming you have a family of 4 that is, that 2nd parent is using baby swap to go to front of the line so they don't need a FP as well.
this works really well when trying to get FP for rock n roller coaster as well as tower of terror, can pick up both sets at the same time.
I'm sure not everyone will agree with how I do it but it works for us.

fizz13, that was kind of what I was wondering. I wasn't sure if DS and I rode with a FP, if DH could go along with us as well without one and then swap off DD and ride with DS right away. If anyone else has suggestions, please comment!

This is how we used it also. In one case we got 2 FP for Space Mountain and 2 FP for Buzz Lightyear. Went over to Space Mountain and showed our son who was too small to ride and got the rider swap ticket. DH and older son rode SM while I went on Buzz Lightyear with the little one. I then used the rider swap ticket and went on SM with my older son.

This is exactly what we did. Used 2 for one ride, 2 for another.

The rider swap pass is a FP, so to speak. So, you can either ride standby with your DS and then your DH and DS use the rider swap pass you obtained earlier to then go through the FP line (you can do this immediately after you get off the ride or later). Or, you can get 2 FPs for the ride, so you and your DS can initially go in the FP line, but your DH and DS will go through the FP line regardless because of the rider swap pass. Does that make sense?

That is EXACTLY what I meant! So in reality, I don't have to have a FP for DH to ride with son because the swap pass works just like a FP!? Makes sense and that way we could have 2 more FP for something else DD can't ride and do those right away! Sometimes I guess it works out for an older child to have a little sibling so they can ride 2 times!

Yes!

And you are so right about the older child getting to ride twice. When we go back next year, the younger one will be tall enough to ride everything but SM, EE, RnR and Mission Space, so that means no more double rides for older DS on BTMRR, Splash, Soarin', TT, ToT or Dinosaur. I mean, we might be able to work it out sometimes, but we'll be utilizing 4 FPs for one ride more frequently than we did in the past. DS had it made before. Oh well -- now he'll get to experience some things w/ his little brother and he'll enjoy that.
