FastPass offsite help!?

So, I havent been to disney in over 5 years.. This is the first ive ever heard of fastpasses... If your staying offsite how does the fastpasses work & how do u schedule them? I already have disney theme park tickets which ive had for awhile I didnt recieve any fastpass info with them. Im super confused on how you actually book the fastpasses in advance?

Off-site guests can make FP+ selections up to 30 days in advance of being in the park.

1. Right now, today click HERE. Then, set up a free MyDisneyExperience account.

2. Input your ticket number(s) to your new MDE account.

3. At 30 days (or less) before your first day in a WDW park, make 3 FP+ reservations in your MDE account.
You can do likewise (3 FP+ per day) for every one of your park days (for which you have a valid ticket) when it becomes
30 days (or less) before that day you will be in the park.

Fast passes in their original incarnation were introduced in 1999.
