FastPass kiosks - what a mess.

We're here now and having a good time. at AK we asked for the closest FP location. 1 lady sitting on a porch of one of the shops w her iPad. Super friendly and it was easy - just thought it was weird. No signage - you had to ask where she was and know to look for someone in the light blue shirt.

Studios was a mess! We asked for the closest location and were sent to "the little yellow" building in the center hub area. We approached the little yellow bldg after circling it halfway trying to figure a way in through the random arrangement of low walls and rails. We approached and a chipper but a little frazzled blue shirted CM pointed for us to get in the line "over there by Andrea". We looked in the direction she pointed and just random crowds of people. Finally saw another blue shirted CM looking our way so worked our way over to Andrea who told us to line up against the low wall which is in a common area being used by elderly people and baby watching mothers who were asked to move "because it's the fast pass line". Is it ? Really? Who would know?

So the grandma w the baby grabbed her stuff and moved over to sit on the other side of the wall. You know - the wall in an open common area w no official line up area.

So Andrea sends us over to the 1st CM when CM #1 waved over the next group. But cm #1 one is standing kind of in an open area so everyone passing through this open area comes up to her for help and she has to then wave them off to "go over there by Andrea". Then cm#1 mistakenly realizes a que wasn't open yet (probably because she can't focus with this terrible set up). A computer opens and CM#1 sends us to the que where the cm managing it tells me "ma'am there's I line...." I cut her off "yes and I've been in it and was told to come here". My husband was standing maybe 3 feet behind me which I guess is the wrong thing to do because another cm fusses at him not to stand there. He retorts "I'm with her" pointing to me. They apologize saying they can't tell because so many people try to come up the wrong way. So if you're there just remember stand on the heels of your group so not seem separated! We watched the confusion continue over and over.

So this FP thing is not new. Why is this such a cluster ----.? They seemed so frazzled. Still amazing to me that stupid systems like this occur. How about at a minimum give the 2nd cm "over there" some kind of little FP+ paddle sign to hold. Or some ropes or better que.

Disney is just such a well oiled machine this kind of mess is surprising.

Wow.

I didn't realize the process to receive additional FPs was so involved. We didn't bother getting any beyond our first three because I found it counterproductive to wait in a line in order to avoid waiting in line.

The kiosks have been in use for months now. How can it still be this unorganized?

They're certainly not doing themselves any favors by perpetually closing and moving kiosk locations.

It sounds like this isn't a design flaw.
Maybe the "additional FP+ after your 3" is only temporary and they are going to eventually have some other system (tiered along with hotel? more initial passes? etc) Maybe that is why there isn't a "system" to it this part of the FP+ right now.

At any rate, sounds annoying. Not looking forward to trying it!

The issues are with just this particular FP location. There is a nice and organized permanent FP location down by ToT.

Epcot has 2 nice organized locations, on each side of FW. There is also at least 1 CM in International Gateway

At MK they have a Kiosk near Philiarmagic and another going info Adventure Land from Liberty Square (or is that Frontier Land down there?, it's the area between the, near Magic Carpets.

AK is a bit more hard to pin down. I've never gotten additional FP there so no idea how theirs are set up.

But they are all not that bad. MK needs more, that's for sure.

I agree, there is so much renovation and construction right now that the kiosks just keep moving around and a CM with a tablet can be a make shift kiosk if needed. TBH, some of them really don't make sense where they are located and I think they are searching for the ideal location for some parks.

There also isn't much "training" on how to use them or what to look for. in a couple years when the system is second nature (or they switch to sometihng new) it'll smooth out.

I have to agree with this point. It does seem ridiculous to stand in a long line just so you don't have to stand in another long line later.

Dumb question, but the park maps don't indicate where the kiosks are located?

Yes, they do.

But, they are not 100% complete, as the locations change, even during the day.

And, one very good spot in MK is simply always left out.

(This is one seriously warped "system!")

Ugh! Knowing myself, I'll be that crazy looking woman dashing from place to place wasting precious time trying to plan in an attempt to save time! (I'll probably stand in a line thinking I'm waiting for fastpass + only to find I've made it to the ladies room. Lol) They need to allow people to make additional selections through the app.

This will make my adventure of FP in four parks more challenging if the kiosks move around. Another level of difficulty!

Except I swear that 90%+ of the guests in FP+ Station lines are getting their 1st 3 FP+ for the day.
Even at 6pm :O
CM's usually seem relieved when I'm just getting a 4th.

And they don't have bands and an MDE account, so they have to scan in each ticket to create their group then decide what, of the few available FP+ they might want.

I would love to have a "random, 4th FP+ Mickey that I could, walk up, scan and then adjust via my phone vs waiting in lines while groups attempt to decide what they are going to do for the day.

Don't hate on people trying to plan their spontaneity.

Is there still one by Stitch? That one worked pretty well since no one goes to Stitch but since they wander it might be long gone.

There still was the FP+ kiosk by Stitch 2 weeks ago.
But the last time I used it, there was no longer a single line feeding the next available kiosk. Instead it was individual lines for each kiosk. (And I chose my line poorly :scared:
