hi,

i am booking a disneyland resort hotel and i noticed that each member of my family gets 2 fastpasses for rides. i am confused. at wdw, you just go to an attraction and use a fastpass (if it is provided by the attraction). you don't get only 2 per person. how does it work at dl?

thanks everyone.

This is a special promotion. These two fast passes can be used like regular fast passes you would normally get. Just go to the fast pass line and no need to wait for a certain time of day.
You still can use your park tickets to get regular fast passes (as you would in Disneyworld), but you have these two additional fast passes for your convenience

It's the same as WDW, the machines are at the attractions. The 2 fastpasses when checking in is a special promo for the summer, separate from normal fastpasses.

wow, so the difference is that we wouldn't need to go back at a certain time, we can just ride the ride then?! wow, thats pretty cool! thanks so much for clarifying!

As long as you are past the original return time on the attraction FP. The promotional ones you can use up til Sept ?

You can only use the promo FPs for rides that accept FPs, though, correct? So no TSMM, which is the one ride that sorely needs them. :(

Yes with regular FPs one has to wait until the FP window opens before using them.....but at DLR you do NOT have to return at a "certain time". (irregardless of the special 2 free FPs you get for staying on-site). You can return much later than the FP window (if you want to).

Lots of Dis'ers will collect 3-5 FPs the first 2.5 hours (at DL) and then return to DL that late afternoon or evening to use them.

The DIFFERENCE is you get TWO extra FPs to use (in addition to FPs you'll pick up during your touring). It's a HUGE benefit to those who want to enjoy Star Tours without having to deal with the crazyness of Star Tours standby line &/or FP line.

But still pick up SM, Indy, Splash & BTMRR FPs during your early morning touring to use for later.....(& use the special FPs for ST). And i haven't even discussed FP collection at DCA.

Read Hydroguy's FP tip threads for additional info on how to maximize FP collection at DLR.

We just returned from our first DL trip and would highly recommend using your two extra fast passes for Star Tours if this is an attraction that you and your family are interested in doing. The standby lines were absolutely nuts with wait times up to 130 minutes while we were there. Unless you get fastpasses from the attraction first thing in the morning, you will be out of luck. They were gone by 11:30 just about every day we were there.

On a side note, Star Tours was a lot of fun and a very cool upgrade from it's previous state (I've only ridden the DHS version). Look for the hidden mickey on the video screen in the waiting queue! :)

The only exception is Little Mermaid, which does not have fastpasses.

We just checked out of the GCH yesterday and the CM at check-in who gave us the FPs was very clear that we could use our two bonus FPs on any attraction at DLR except for WOC. The ride does not need to be a normal FP ride.

BTW we used all of ours on Star Tours! :thumbsup2

Interesting! Does anyone have a pic of these FPs?

yes someone did post a copy. i bumped up another thread titled "disney hotel promo fast pass".

And that would be great if we could use the hotel passes on TSMM

I thought about taking a pic but never got around to it. They do not look anything like regular FPs. They are on 3x4 white card stock. Pretty unremarkable.

thanks all. so a family of 4 would get 8 fastpasses w/the promotion but if we all ride the same ride, we could only use them on 2 rides, right? does each of us have to use the fp for the ride or can 1 person use their promo fp for the ride & we all go on together?

The promo FPs are not specific to any person. So you could have one person take all eight and use them on eight rides, or have each person get 2 and ride twice.

In fact we used this to our advantage because one of our group did not want to go to the parks so we had two extra FPs. Then as we were going into DL Friday evening someone gave us 3 ST FPs as she was leaving the park. With those three and our two "extra" promo FPs we were able to ride ST 3 times with FPs. And we never had to get any ST FPs at the FP machines.

Each person that rides will have to have a FP.
