Fastpass+ is cramping my style

I honestly cannot understand for the life of me why so many of you have trouble with lines on "lesser" rides. In my experience, there was no wait at all on IASW, Philharmagic, Magic Carpets, Monsters Inc, TTA Monorial, C of P, the Train, Stitch (but yuck) and less than 15 minutes on Buzz, Barnstormer, 20 minutes on Speedway, Astro Orbiter. The only things at MK that had any real lines were 7DMT, A & E, and for some strange reason I just don't understand, PP. you guys must all be hanging out at MK from 1:00-5:00. We go on the headliners in the morning or at night and haven't experienced long wait on anything.

And for the person that says, "now I have to choose between eating or riding 7DMT." Really? You can't ride and then walk over to Ray's and eat? Or Pinocchio's? Why not?

Different people travel on different days and have different experiences.

Is there some reason people who pay a full day of admission should not hang out in the MK from 1-5?

We paid $105 for our one day of admission (each). I wasn't going to leave for 4 hours. We waited half an hour to ride IASW and 45 minutes for Buzz Lightyear.

I can't speak for everyone, but personally, my issue is lines on attractions that formerly rarely had them. The Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Spaceship Earth are great examples. They are large-capacity rides that eat lines, making Fastpasses for these unnecessary. However, since the advent of FP+, long lines for all of these are now a more common occurrence. This may be a non-issue for some people, but it's frustrating for many of us. Disney "fixed" something that wasn't broken, which has resulted in less-than-optimum results.

And wasn't what you used to have to do was get to the park at rope drop and literally run around the park to get to TSMM and grab a paper fast pass in order to get a ride on it at all?

Not for us. I don't think we have ever actually made RD at DHS. We usually got.there maybe around 30 mins after RD. We never had an issue getting tsmm. They weren't 20 min away return times, but they weren't 4-5 hrs away either. We don't do full days in DHS, and we didn't have a problem using our tsmm fps.

I'm definitely a 1-5'er, I sleep in the morning and go to the parks in the afternoon. Maybe because the food at both of those places are horrid? LMAO

No. If you showed up before 1pm most days you'd get a FP. If you were at rope drop you could easily ride 3 times before 10am.

I'm surprised you didn't include Hall of Presidents in your list of no waits. I agree with you these attractions had low or no waits. Always have, the exception being IASW when I was there.
Jungle Cruise, HM, POC all had 40-50 minute SB waits when I was there.

Perhaps the person who was talking about choosing between 7DMT and eating was referring to an ADR?

I think FP+ actually works as intended for most of the Disney visitors that use it. It really seems like there are only a handful of DIS boarders that think it is the work of the devil.

Oh, and as to this...friends of mine just got back from wdw in June. They go with extended family in the summer (not sure if it is every year or not, but this is at least the second time I've heard about a trip like this). This was their first trip with fp+. They didn't talk to me before their trip at all..my Dd's birthday party was not.long after they returned, and they came and it wa something we talked about there. They absolutely hated fp+. Thought it was the worst idea Disney had ever had. They aren't disboarders...they are just average wdw vacationers.

So you did more of a non-traditional rope drop?

You are attributing the longer lines on a few rides to the advent of FP. You are dismissing the heavier crowds that started at the same time because of the Frozen craziness. WDW in general is far more crowded; of course there are going to be longer lines.

So which one is it?

The data available contradicts your assertion here.

IIRC, both tourig plans and easywdw have done analysis and indicated that the crowd increase was not significant enough to cause the increases in wait times seen in places like POC and HM. I could be wrong, but thought I remembered reading that on both sites.

I think FP+ works as intended for Disney, since they weren't interested in building new attractions. I would never be presumptuous enough to say the majority of guests like or hate FP+. Only Disney has this information and they're not sharing. Theme park attendance is up, but it's up in all US theme parks.

It will be interesting to see what happens.

Yes. I am very surprised by these times. We were there for three CL 8 or more days in June and experienced none of those types of wait times. Was your day a CL 10? Also, as has been reported here many times previously, we noticed that in the evening wait times were greatly inflated. For example, Splash at 10:30 had a listed wait time of 50 minutes, but we walked right through and were immediately "inside" and waited less than 10. I am honestly shocked that there were 90 minute waits for Astro Orbiter at night. I am truly sorry you experienced these times.

We only stood in a handful of stand by lines. The wait times didn't bother me. I was pointing out that going at a different time means a different experience.

I don't know about anyone else, but I have never once run at Disney World for anything, and I have seen very few others doing it. As far as "around the park", no, I walked directly to TSMM, pulled FPs and then went and got an egg sandwich. It was pretty civilized. Come to think of it, the line to get the egg sandwich was infinitely worse!

I feel like this odd urban legend has grown up in the absence of legacy FP - where you had to be there at rope drop (maybe even the front of the pack at rope drop), and run and shove and wait in endless lines, all for the scrap of a chance at a FP for TSMM, and doing so put you in harm's way of an angry, unpredictable mob. That just wasn't the case in my experience.

Maybe some people perceived that to the be case, so they never tried FP-? If so, I can understand their point of view, but really, it's based on urban legend.

We were there for 2 weeks over the 4th of July and while the stand-by lines were usually pretty long, the parks really didn't seem as full as other times we've been there. We had more room to walk around. I've seen others that were there at the same time comment on this as well.

And no, TSMM FPs didn't involve running around for us at all.
