Most of you WDW vets have your own stories about how ignorant people are about FP. I had yet another such experience on May 31 (the day Toy Story Mania officially opened).

We were at DHS and had three FPs for Toy Story Mania (TSM). As we had already rode it 8 times over two days, we decided not to use the FPs and wanted to give them away to some lucky family. We were standing at the TSM standby entrance with a posted wait time of 80 minutes. A mother walked up with her two young daughters holding onto each hand. I said I had three valid TSM FPs and she could have them. She looked at me like I was trying to sell her snake oil, said no thanks, and then walked into the back of the 80-minute line. Wow! :confused3

The person walking up behind her was very happy to take them off my hands.

Once we were walking around the World and saw a dad littering. When we got to the litter I bent down to pick it up and throw it away. I hate people that litter. To my surprise it was 5 FP for Soarin. The return time had already passed so he thought they were no good. We had no problems with those puppies.

Another time at DHS I was getting my FP for RnRC first thing when one of those know-it-all dads was getting his at the machine next to me. He couldn't figure out why he wan't getting any. Then he blurts out "I don't know why it doesn't work I just got FPs for ToT??" I tried to explain to him that he needed to wait until the time on his first FPs would allow him to get new ones. He said I was wrong because he had paid extra to get unlimited FPs. hahahahaha

Wow...that was awesome and lucky!!!!! :)

When we were leaving Epcot last year (we HAD to get on the road!!), we had FPs to Soarin' and TT. We tried SEVERAL times to give them away, but people looked at us like we were asking for their first born or something. Plus, it is SO HARD to find a group of 3--seems like there are lots of 2's or 4's, but few 3's!!! We finally found a family by SE and the son looked about the same age as my DS. He was BEGGING his dad to go back to TT "just one more time!" Dad said that the wait time was too long and they just needed to find other things to do. I went and talked with dad (without son hearing me because I didn't want to overstep my bounds) and told him I had FPs to TT and Soarin'. I've never seen someone so happy!! He offered me money for them, knowing that they were free, but wanting to offer something. I told him ABSOLUTELY not!!! I just wanted them to be used. That family was so appreciative and it ended our trip just they way we imagined! The family was from Great Britain and I truly hope they had a BLAST on TT and Soarin'!!

I have on several occassions given away parent swap passes that we decided not to use. Had to explain to some how to use them!

We just returned from an 8 day trip and used FP almost exclusively. Even toward the end of the afternoon we would still gather FP knowing that we were going to give them away because we most likely weren't going to ride anymore rides into the evening. We also had difficulty giving them away because people didn't understand them.

We had to leave Epcot after going on Soarin, and we had just received the Dream Passes for that day and knew we couldn't use them. We went to where the FP machines were and I tried to give the special FPs away, but it took an OK from a CM for the family to realize it was legit!
rwc:)

This past April I got Fp for EE at Ak. Well after getting them the others in my party chickened out. After riding by myself I offered them to a gentleman and his daughter in the back of the line. He just said thanks but we really havent heard of a fastpass ride we're just waiting for Expedition Everest. After explaining these were fast passes for Everest he just said in an unsure voice"Okay, thanks". I walked away and looked back to see them still in the back of a line with an 80 min posted wait time.

Wow! Unbelievable. I wish this would happen to me
I would give you a big hug!!

Seems like in this day and age some people just don't or can't beleive that there are people out there that still do nice things for total strangers and don't want anything in return. Kudos too all you lovely people for trying to do something nice for a total stranger/strangers.

A little story about FP and Karma...

Last August DH and I had FP for Soarin' but decided to leave Epcot because it was getting hot and it was lunch time. We gave them away to a very nice young couple who could not have been happier.

Later that evening as we were walking into MK, a woman approached us out of the blue and said she had won dream FP to MK and had only used one ticket. She handed us two almost-complete MK dream FPs! We felt like we had won the biggest prize that day and spent the rest of the night using every ticket left. We still have the lanyards and still feel like we won it ourselves!

I just plain feel sorry for some of them' folks that just don't get it!

Last August we were getting ready to ride BTMR. Just so happened that the stand-by line was only a 15-20 minute wait so we hopped in it.

As we made our way thru the line and came to the waiting point, I said to the lady in front of me, "Wow, we usually use fast pass for this attraction but you can't beat 20 minutes."

She replies, "Oh, it's toooo hot to do anything fast today."

I said, "No, not like go fast thru the line. I mean the fast past tickets to get you on quicker."

She says, "Oh, we aren't staying at a Disney hotel so we can't use those machine things."

:confused3 WHAT:confused3 ?????

Has anyone else been able to use a FP for Soarin' after it expired? I've seen people turned away, but that was when the ride was still new...

We have used expired passes many times. They will take them after the time as long as it is the correct date. I've heard that is changing, but it really depends on the CM at the time. If it doesn't work, try again later!

I've done it many times without a problem during low crowds and big crowds. Never had a problem.

Like the OP, I had extra FPs for TSMM. I tried to give them away and got stares like I had an extra head. The stand-by time was 80 minutes and I had to practically beg someone to take the 4 FPs I had. Finally, a family came forward and took them. Then the mother said, "we usually don't use these because WDW is already so expensive that I don't want to pay more". I can't believe people don't know that they are FREE to ALL guests. Even on our first trip to WDW when I didn't plan a thing (yes, I was one of THOSE first timers), I still could read the map and learn how FP worked!!

I hear ALL the time comments from the stand-by line, as we pass people, that it's "unfair" or we're "ditching". I just don't get it.

Me neither..at the very least, if you didn't know what those machines did, wouldn't you find a CM and ask?:confused3 I know I would, because I am nosy! I'd want to know what the heck a fastpass was just out of plain curiousity.

:scared1:

Do people just not read guidebooks or anything before going to Disney?

I know my family are obessive planners but thats just CRAZY!!!!

I mean - how much better can Disney explain this in the guidebooks and they have CM at the distribution points that can explain it all. I am not expecting everyone to be obsessive first time planners but this is not that confusing. The first time I went on EE at AK I went to get FP's and a guy offered me a couple because they had just been on twice and were moving on. I gladly accepted them.
