Fastpass for Parade?

Hi All - Planning our October 2017 trip and I feel like a newbie again. It has been so long since our last trip (2008) and so much has changed. We stay offsite - we will have magic bands and I believe I understand the fastpass changes/rules. Do we really need to fastpass for the parade? Do they block off all the good spots for returning fastpass folks? Is it no longer possible to just grab a section of curb along main street with a snack and have a break waiting for parade to start? Appreciate any info on this and anything else you think I need to know. If it matters, we have park hoppers, plan to hit all the parks and it will be our DD(6) first trip so the parade will be a priority for us while in the past it has never been a must do for us.

There are no FPs issued for the parade.


A look at the MK Parade Route-

The 3 O'Clock Parade (Festival of Fantasy) and both the MVMCP and MNSSHP parades start near Spalsh Mtn. and exit near the Firehouse.

Less crowded than on Main Street, but still spectacular viewing can be found near the Hall of Presidents, or deep into Frontierland, past the Country Bears.

If you want to watch from Main Street you need to get a spot pretty early, but If you go to Frontierland you can usually get a spot a bit more easily. I'd still give it 30 minutes if you want to be up front.

Great thanks...I thought I saw on WDW site that the parade was listed as a fastpass option...good thing I have so much time to research and then ask silly questions on here and let ya'll set me straight Robo, love your maps

Just in case you did not know...there is no night time parade currently. So as Robo mentioned just the 3pm and ticketed event parades are currently available.
