OK, so now that FastPass return times have been enforced for quite a while I'm interested in hearing how many feel it has affected their WDW experience.

Was it as bad as the naysayers expected it would be when it was announced?

I routinely used FPs "late" before, so I am not a fan. I feel like I either have to stay near the ride now waiting for the window to open or rush back to it before it closes. But, it is what it is and I have adapted.

Of course, others who didn't do this will not be impacted. I expect I'll be chastised by some (not all) of these. Let them come. ;)

You left out "Yes, but we have reluctantly adapted, with all the changes in strategy that it required."

Good point - I'll see if I can modify the poll. <--- Tried that but apparently you can't change a poll even in Advanced mode.

We have been twice since the change has been. It worked out fine. I wouldn't say I was happy about the change but it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. I felt like I had to watch the clock more which isn't fun on vacation. We made good use of the Disney lines apps so I knew if it was worth the walk to Space Mountain to have a FP to use when we returned from break.

We did end up having to give away FP's that we couldn't use because the timing and our current location just didn't work. But, that is not all bad. I can still see the looks of excitement and appreciation on the 4 teens that I gave RNR FP's to.

This.

There is a lot of wasted running around the park trying to get back in the allotted time.

i selected the first option, but that's being overly dramatic. What I meant was that it has affected us. It causes our family's entire touring style to change. Will we still use fast passes - yes. But we are still not happy with it

I said no, because we really did always get back within the given window. However, I have found in the last year that it seems to make the wait in the FP line longer than previously.
Several people have "explained" why that's happening. And we haven't been to the park now since July, but understand that they're trying out or experimenting with FP plus, which probably makes a difference too.
I'm not a big user of fast passes at any of the parks but not sure I like ALL the changes.
:confused3

this - and my other peeve is now the standby lines seem to take longer due to this change and their need to move the FP people thru the line.

I used to occasionally use them late, but more often used them on time, so it's just a tiny bit more planning to get back at the right time.

Is there a new fast pass rule regarding holding two at a time?

Nope.

The only change enacted is that FP's must be used within the one-hour Return Window printed on the ticket.

I voted no because I almost never use Fastpasses.

But I did note when I went to Disneyland Paris last year the the FP window was only 30 minutes, was that from inception, and was strictly enforced with no grace period.

I hardly ever used them late. To be honest I kind of felt like it was my duty to get back to the FP window on time since that was the time given to me. Although, I never over stressed about it and I'm the kind of person who would rather be 10 min early than on time or even 1 min late.

I always tended to use them during the return window anyway so it doesn't really affect me. Criss-crossing parks has never appealed to me (less so with a small child).

Still, my issue is this: If you're going to make me watch the clock, have some clocks that I can watch!!! I don't like to wear a watch when hot and digging for my phone all the time is annoying.

I know Disney is like Vegas where they kind of want you to lose all sense of time, but there has to be some kind of compromise!!

Better get used to THAT, I'm afraid, if you intend to use FP's after the "new and improved" FP+ comes on-line.

And, get ready for thousands upon thousands of guests with their heads down looking at their
smart phones.
Ubiquitous near-misses and full-on crashing into other guests is in everyone's future.

They can whip us both at the same time then :rotfl:

We adapted, because things change and you just have to roll with changes if you can't control them. But it has changed the way we tour the parks a LOT and it really wasn't easy.

I didn't check the first option because "the end of the world" sounded a bit dramatic :rotfl2: but it took a lot of thought and planning. Where we had got so used to doing the parks that we never really had to 'plan' seriously any more, I suddenly found we were trying to work things around FP return times .... which would then affect where and when we could get something to eat ...

Indeed considering they will be wanting us to walk around with our faces in our phones so we can hope to catch a FP somewhere. Heaven forbid we miss out on a 'special offer' to try and move us to another less crowded park.

I agree. It definetly requires more strategy. For example, we did the Segway tour in the morning and had a lunch reservation in France at 12:00. After finishing the tour around 10:30, we headed over to Soarin to get a fastpass for after lunch. The return time was 12:30-1:30. We didn't think we would make it back by 1:30. So we went over to Nemo and Imagination and then went back to Soarin, by then the return was around 1:30-2:30 so we took it. We barely made it back before 2:30. Before the change, we would have taken the first one and went on our way, not having to worry about the return time.
