This Space Lizard has got to get back to work now.

I have used fast passes outside the window many times, it is quite convenient, and I will miss that ability if it truly goes.
I'm not going to get mad about it, it is well within Disney's rights to change the way they use the system, and I will deal with those changes, and especially if this ushers in the ability to choose my own ride times from home.
I guess now, we just need to wait and see what REALLY happens.
I see both sides to the argument..but one thing bothers me. Who says it's your "right" to ride all attractions regardless of dinner reservations, or other plans? If you can't make the new fp time alloted...then you don't ride. What about the people who can't ride at all because all of the fp's are gone and the sb line is out of control? You are both out of luck. Its vacation folks.....if you ride, you ride. If you can't be there when it is your turn to ride....better luck to you next time. Maybe this change will make things worse for some of you and maybe it will make it better for others....but regardless, rules are rules. Follow them or hit Universal next time.
Will rider swap passes also have an enforced return window?
And since we have a month before we can get first hand reports, can someone let me know WHICH Space Lizards to expect, please?I like to be prepared, and their scouts were spotted in snake and lizard form wandering loose in Epcot and around my resort last October....

Enforcing the return time isn't going to change this. The only difference is that now everyone will just have to return on time - and most of them will. The others will have just wasted a fast pass. As it is now, most people do return within the window. Those that don't still could - they just don't because they don't have to. Enforcing the end times will only ensure that a larger percentage make more of an effort to get back to TSM in time. The only thing that is going to stop the hoards from converging on TSM is building another massively popular attraction.

It is not like that at all.missing a FP window can happen, but a 15 minutes cushion should be more than enough.
in my opinion, getting a FP in the morning with the intent of using it in the afternoon, hours after the return window, is basically line cutting.
To me it's like having an appointment at 10am with your Doctor, and coming in by 5pm on the pretense that you had to go shopping, and arguing that you must get front of the line access because you had an appointment that day... that's just downright rude in my book
I understand that at the end of the day if there is 1000 cars that's can go an hour and the park is open for 10 hours that at the end of the day with everything running perfect 10000 cars will go. If 900 passes are being issued that day an all of them are used it doesn't affect the overall total number of riders. However, what it does affect is the individual wait times of the fast pass guests who have additional people show up during their time slot. Instead of thise riders going earlier they are now adding additional bodies into the fast pass cue which increases wait times for both standby and the fast pass guests. Again, I understand that in total it's still the same amount of bodies riding at the end if the day but it impacts the individual wait times for those abiding by the window times.
I said it on page two, but does the average Disney guest even KNOW you can use FP's after the window? It seems to be common knowledge on the DIS, but how big a percentage do we make up of the daily visitors on property?
I think the change won't cause as much angst as some here seem to think it will. We all have had to adjust our touring styles as things have changed over the years...rope drop/no rope drop, the invention of FP, the morning cattle drive to TSM or Soarin', making ADR's right at 180 days (or 180+ 10) and on and on.
We will survive the next round of changes too.
I, like others, feel sorry for the CMs who are going to have to deal with all this right in the middle of Spring Break and Easter. You would think that they would implement this with a thought to crowds and timing- start with smaller crowd levels and work their way up....

I heard this too..Doesn't really affect me..I generally use them within the window..Just another reason why I loved Universal..Yes those who stay offsite pay for the privelage of express pass, but onsite does not, and believe me not having to carry around slips of paper, stampede to a machine and clock watch my whole trip was SOOOOO worth it.
Here's why I "get worked up" about it - it makes the park experience less fun.
If you hustle around the park and collect FP, you can go on the busiest day to any park and ride all day, including hitting the very popular ones 2 or 3 times per day, and almost never wait in a line more than 20 or 30 minutes. This implies that the system is working very well.
I cannot think of one benefit that changing (enforcing end times) will have. If someone can point out a benefit, I'd be happy to hear it.
In the meantime, I'm thinking that the change will result in me riding less times and being tethered to my cell phone clock all day watching times and figuring out where I am in the park - that is less enjoyable. I get to deal with schedules the rest of my year - when I'm in WDW, it's nice to not have to pay attention to the clock all day.
"Professional" Fastpass collectors? Now this thread REALLY has been taken over by the space lizards!
If FP windows are to be enforced, a much more workable solution is to allow people to choose their own windows when they get their FP. Like you can for dining reservations.
But by the same argument, if the amount who know they can use them late is low, then they don't likely have any real impact regardless...so why the need to enforce now?
I just checked WDW website and don't see anything? Do we have confirmation of this or just sources we deem reliable but still some question about whether it'll actually happen?

Exactly! The change has not actually happened yet. It may be a little premature for the FP window police to be getting excited.
The reality will by that the effectively used passes will be counted a few times each day. Those who say "if you don't like the time, don't take the FP" really just HOPE you'll bypass it so they can sleep late and get the FP you bypassed when they get there.
