Fastpass Enforcement coming?

Yes, they are making a change. It does not need to be because anything was broken.

The FP ticket wouldn't give a window if it wasn't supposed to be used that way. Just because it was never enforced doesn't mean you can just erase the window. It's there, as plain as day.

For every time my family has used a fast pass late, 3 standby people were able to ride the ride "3 people sooner". We seem to be pointing out how it negatively affects the later standby riders but never mention that it helped the earlier standby riders.

Also, FP was designed to keep people out of lines and SPENDING MONEY in shops and on food. They will adjust the system to however they need to make sure people are able to still spend lots and lots of money.

That's not entirely true. The only option is to show Disney you don't like the policy change and not give them your money. If enough people do so, they would change policy.

However, even if I frequently used late FP's, this change wouldn't come anywhere near a level that would cause me to boycott Disney.

Simple solution: Use your FP within the window (+grace period) OR anytime after one our before closing -- at which time the FP lane receives equal precedence to the stand-by lane and all FP return times would have ended.

Honestly, I couldn't care less about the whining. It's par for the course on the disboards (and every other message board in existence.) The thing that bothers me is the stunning amount of logical fallacies.

Merchandise...resort specific merchandise? Have you NOT noticed that most of the resort specific merchandise is gone, in favor of generic merchandise? Yes there is still some, but very limited. Gone are all the resort specific shirts, etc. All I can think of offhand are resort pins and cheap trinkets.

I think this WAS true, but that they are moving the resort specific merchandise back to the hotels. What if the new enforcement is because they are about to give out MORE fastpasses and want to better manage the expected wait FP users will have -- so that instead of either a walk-on or a short wait, there will always be a consistently short-ish wait.

Those extra FPs could be part of the early Xpass experiments that are probably coming, in theory.

Conceivable, but doubtful in my mind. Adding Fastpasses means "taking away" standby slots - in the sense that the standby line will have longer waits.

Also, if in theory the FP line always has priority, and always has a some sort of dwell time such that it is never really empty, then the standby line stagnates indefinitely. We already get angry standby people...can't imagine making it worse...
