FastPass Advice for Solo Traveler

Hello!

I am very excited to plan my solo trip for late August. I haven't been to Disneyland since 2007!

I am looking for some advice for making the most out of the FastPass system. I will be there on a Wednesday and Thursday in the latter half of August. Just me!

I am most looking forward to Frozen Live, Radiator Springs, and California Screamin. I know RSR has a single rider line, but does anyone know the average wait? I assume it's much less than the 90 minute+ for the regular line, but is it still worth it to get a FastPass for that ride? What suggestions do you have for orders to get FastPasses? Note - I'm also considering the pre show dining package for Frozen, depending on the reviews of it.

For Disneyland, I need some similar advice. I LOVE Indiana Jones, in fact it's my earliest memory of Disneyland! I am also looking forward to Hyperspace Mountain and the Fantasyland rides, and Splash Mountain. Any suggestions for FP order here? Which rides are great for single riders? I read Indiana Jones does - I'm hoping to use that!

My $.02! At CA, California Screamin single rider is usually super fast and well worth it. FYI- they close about an hour before the 1st WOC show. Radiator Springs- rough estimate is single rider line is 1/3-1/2 of standby. I LOVE this ride at night and may be worth a FP to make that happen. Soarin also had SR with the old version but could be as long as standby- don't know how the new version has impacted that. At Disneyland, Indiana Jones SR is slow but faster than standby and I think the only other SR ride is Splash Mtn. which is usually pretty fast.

I agree with the above. RSR SR is usually 15-30 minutes long. GRR has SR. Soarin does too but SR is not very fast there.

Matterhorn has SR but it does not move t hat quickly in my experience (most recently last Thursday eve).

Frozen FP is not linked to regular FP so you can get one and then get another for a ride. WOC FP is the same.

At DL BLAB FP is what we call disconnected which means you can get a FP for that and another ride at the same time. The two FPs at DL you will want to focus on are HSM and ST. Indy and Splash have SR as has been discussed. BTMRR FPs are pretty easy to get and run out much later. As do HM FPs.

At DCA use your FPs on ToT and Soarin.

We have never got a FP for RSR we always do single rider. I agree with the others that it's usually 15 to 30 minutes wait. It just depends on the time of day & how busy the park is. Another suggestion I have is during parade and show times like PTN are good times to ride rides like Indy, POC or HM as the ride lines are shorter.

We got the FP for our family because our kid is 5 and our kid's favorite movie is Cars. The ride was closed down at the beginning of the window and we weren't waiting around since our Frozen tickets were for 11:30. So they allowed us to come back any time and use them.

Later in the day, our kid wanted to ride on it one more time before leaving, and I tried seeing if maybe I could go with my kid through the single rider line. I was hoping it might work, but they require that any rider under 7 has to be accompanied - I suppose on the ride and not just in the line.

I managed to come across (earlier in the day) one FP that also happened to be in part of the window in the time where RSR was closed. Someone wasn't riding and just waved it in the air and asked if anyone wanted it. I was thinking of maybe just keeping it as a souvenir, but when my kid couldn't use the single rider line we asked if it might be possible to use it for our kid. We ran into the same issue of being an unaccompanied child under 7. However, the CM was willing to write up a pass for two (but then three when my wife asked if that was possible) in exchange for the single FP. It was a nice gesture, and I think they have discretion to do something like that as long as it's not too often. I would have been happy if just one of use could have done it without our kid, and the estimated standby line was 75 minutes.

Years ago my wife and I had both been on the ride before at various times, but that was when our kid wasn't tall enough. I think once was when I went early without the family, thinking I could get WoC tickets even without my wife's ticket being used at the entrance. Once we combined single rider with rider swap.

Between RSR and CA Screamin', I would opt to get the FP for RSR and then ride Screamin' as standby (or Single Rider if they still have it). I prefer the FP at RSR because you can make row requests (some CMs are more friendly about accommodating row requests than others, but I haven't had one say "no" when in the regular line). I much prefer the view you get from the front row of the car, so I'd rather use a FP here and request the front.

FYI, Soarin' no longer offers a single rider line But you can make great time with the others! I was there solo yesterday and was literally the only person in the single rider line for RSR, GRR, and Splash Mountain!

I don't know how long you have, but I had 4 days, and one thing I found out about myself: I drove myself too hard to do too much, just because I could. Since I didn't have the constraints to juggle the wants and needs of DH and 3 daughters, I was determined to wring every ride out of every moment. It was too much, and I ended up kind of burned out and jaded, and incidentally, also with terrible blisters on my feet! If I did a solo again, I would go at a much more leisurely pace, and stop and smell the roses. Hope you have a great trip!

That's funny, I did a solo to DLR a couple years ago and while I didn't burn out, I did a lot more because of the proximity of everything. And the blisters were EPIC. I switched to flip flops (which I never wear) and pushed on! Going back in just a few weeks!

I prefer the front. Im 6' tall and if I sit up and look straight ahead I'm right at the frame of the windshield. Then there's the eye graphic on the windshield.
