Fastest way to get from MGM to Epcot

In October We will be trying to get from Fantasmic! (starts at 7:30) to the World Showcase in Epcot before it closes (9:00) (just need to pick up an event guide for F&W). What is the fastest way to get from MGM after F! to Epcot:

Bus directly from MGM to Epcot

OR

Boat from MGM to Y & B dock and then boat to Epcot

OR

Boat from MGM to Y & B dock and walk to International Gateway

If time allows between hotel check in and needing to get to F! we may try to run by Epcot first, and then head to MGM, but still need to know which transportation method will be quickest.

BTY, no kids are involved to slow down the pace of travel!


Does the boat service that serves Epcot, Y & B and MGM make a loop of all 3 places, or are there 2 boats that go back and forth (one for each park)?

The boat is the quickest way to go. It is about 20 min from MGM to Epcot with stops at Y&B and Boardwalk. You might want to get off at either resort stop and walk. Its very enjoyable, but they can't really speed up!

There's just one boat route, that makes a continual loop from International Gateway to Y&B to Boardwalk to Swan & Dolphin to MGM, then back to S&D, BW, Y&B, IG, etc.

I think the fastest way, especially right after Fantasmic when there will be mobs waiting for the boats and buses, is to walk.

Well, if you just stay on the boat leaving MGM it will end up in Epcot. After Fantasmic, this boat can be crowded, and it will stop at S/D, YC/BC and BW. And its pretty slow but great for tired feet!

Another option is to just walk back from MGM. You don't have to wait for transportation that way and its a very nice walk of about 20 - 30 minutes depending on how quickly you walk along the fully lighted walkway. Very pleasant. We have beaten the boat back every time we have walked back to both YC/BC and BW.

If I had a comfy pair of sneakers on, I'd just walk from MGM to Epcot. That would be faster.

BTW -- if you are just going to Epcot to get a F&W fest guide, wouldn't your hotel have one? Perhaps I misunderstood your original statement?

There is no bus, so that's out.

Immediately after Fantasmic, there will be a wait for the boat, so the fastest way will be to walk.

Fastest route is to WALK....especially after Fantasmic as the lines will be very long just to get a boat....we always walk and it is always faster then the boat.....

I agree with the others: Boat is the nicest way to go, but walking may be the fastest after Fantasmic. One thing you might try is seeing if you can scoot out of Fantasmic quickly and hop on the bus to Boardwalk and walk from there. That might be the fastest route. Good Luck!!

I don't remember there being a bus from MGM to the BW, IME, the only transport on that route is via boat.

Definitely, the fastest way is to walk; if you are a brisk walker you can do it in about 20-25 minutes. The wait for boats after Fantasmic is sometimes nearly an hour if you are not RIGHT at the front of the line.

If you want to take the boat, I would sit at the back of the stadium during Fantasmic. As soon as it is over, head out ASAP. There can be a huge crowd at the boat dock.

Unless things have changed there is a bus between MGM & the FW entrance to Epcot. After Fantasmic, the quickest way to go would be to walk. The boats get crowded really quickly at park closing, and the walkway is really nice along the water.

If you somehow manage to catch a boat right after Fantasmic, I would advice getting off at the Swan and walking across the Boardwalk to Epcot. The Swan is the first boat stop back from MGM. It often takes a while to dock and unload the boats at the 3 stops.

I believe it's three quarters of a mile walk from MGM to the Boardwalk, but just over a quarter of a mile walk from the Swan to Epcot. Plus it's fun walking through the Boardwalk in the evening.

FYI: There are a least two boats that run between Epcot and MGM, maybe even 3.

After Fantasmic, there is a very long line at the boat dock and you may have to wait for one or two boats before you get on. Walking is the fastest way. But you may not have much time anyway once you get out of Fantasmic and over to Epcot.

No matter what time of the day or night you are talking about, you can walk faster from EPCOT to MGM than the boat will get you there.

During the winter months the boat ride from MGM to the International Gateway takes 25 minutes, give or take a couple of minutes. This is from dock to dock. As mentioned, the wait in line for the boat can be long.

The last time we went from Fantasmic! to the BC we walked instead of taking a boat and we beat the boat. We walked with DD's 4 and 3 so we weren't rushing.

I agree with the earlier poster - If you're staying at a Disney resort, they should have the updated guide you're looking for...maybe we both misunderstood your question.
