Hello again and thanks everyone for the warm welcome ^_^ I'm sorry if this is a repeat thread of any kind, but I just can't seem to get a clear explanation of fast passes. I have the Disney planning dvd which goes over them in less than 30 seconds still leaving me with a slew of questions...so here they are.

How do the fast passes work and are they limited to a certain number of rides per day?

How do you get a fast pass, is it automatic with booking a stay in WDW or must you order them?

Once you get them can you use them every day of your vacation?

Finally, is getting a fast pass a first come first serve type option?

Those are the only quesions I can think up anything else about fast passes, or anything vip head of the line type passes that could be shared would be amazing. I keep hearing about fast pass is that the only option WDW offers for getting onto the rides faster? Thanks for any and all advice:banana:

A fast pass is obtained at the park, some rides have them...........some dont. the basic explanation is........................You put your ticket, or door key into a machine, and it spits out a ticket that has a time frame. You return to the fast pass line of that ride anytime within the specified time and you have little to no wait. The catch is...........you can only have one fast pass at a time. Once the time slot on the one that you have has expired you can get another one! Understand???

OK.... I am no expert but I think I might be able to help! Here goes:

How do the fast passes work and are they limited to a certain number of rides per day? Only some rides and attractions have fastpass, not all do. You are limited, you can only do one in a certain time frame (they are one at a time).

How do you get a fast pass, is it automatic with booking a stay in WDW or must you order them? You get them from a machine at any WDW park. They are free and open to all guests. You must put your card in to get one. You can only get one, every two hours.

Once you get them can you use them every day of your vacation? No! You must get a new one for every ride, every day. These only be used one time. They are also time stamped, you must use them within the time frame listed.

Finally, is getting a fast pass a first come first serve type option? Well sorta! They only give a certain number out. You are limited to how many you can get. You can only have one outstanding one at a time.

I am sure that if you search fastpasses on here you will find a wealth of information. You can also go to the main WDW (official) website for more information. My husband and son used them every chance they could and they are helpful, moreso when it is really busy! There are also "Dream Fastpasses" which are given as a prize as part of the YOAMD at WDW... it is a special lanyard given out at the parks which is good for one time through each of the fastpass attractions. My husband and son only won one set during our entire vacation so I do not think it is common to win but you just might! :goodvibes I hope you have fun planning and going!

some answers about FastPass - FP (here is a link for more info)

FPs are obtained at the park on the day that you want to visit the attraction using your magic your way ticket (park ticket)
Some select attractions (see list on the link above - about 6-8 attractions per park) have machines in front of them to get these FPs
You insert your park ticket and it will print another ticket with the name of the attraction and a designated hour for the use of the FP and also the next time you can get a FP at any attraction (this one or any other)
There is a limited # of FPs for each hour and after a certain time frame has ended the machine will move to the next time frame until closing of the park. After it reaches that it will say that FP are no longer available for this attraction for this day.
Some attractions like Soarin' might be out of FP pretty early if it is a crowded day, so think about getting a FP for it first thing if you arrive early in the park.

So answering directly the questions:
- you don't have to order them in advance
- they are first come first served
- the # of rides is limited only by the time on the FP that allows you to get your next FP (if you're fast and gets a FP every time that time is reached then you can maximize your # of FP at that day probably!)

I believe this is the only WDW express line, except for the line for single riders that is available on attractions such as Test Track and Mission SPACE.

Are you automatically entered to win a dream fast pass lanyard when you book in WDW?

Are you automatically entered to win a dream fast pass lanyard when you book in WDW?

No, I don't think so. I believe that the dream fastpasses are part of the random give-away prizes. In the morning at the parks there are a number of CM's who are walking around waiting to randomly give out a year of a million dreams prize! One of these prizes is FP's for your whole party! You get them by being in the right place at the right time.

They are given daily as part of the YOTMD promotion in all 4 parks. My husband and son had just exited Splash Mountain. The Dream Squad had a bag and gave a lot away to others exiting as well, but then they were done. It is simply being in the right place at the right time! :goodvibes Most people say that morning in the parks is the best time, my guys won theirs in very early afternoon! Good luck! :thumbsup2

nice! can anyone receive these Dream prizes? what else are they giving?

I've read somewhere that it was for US citizens only, so didn't ready anything else (we're from Brazil), but if they distribute like this, then it would be awesome to win anything!

Anyone can win a prize if they happen to be the ones picked, it is random, you don't enter anything to win. it has nothing to do with staying on site or not, neither do the regular fast passes, any person who buys a park ticket is elegible for either.

You betcha you guys can win! :thumbsup2 It is random while in parks. There are actually three common giveaways in all four parks... the Dream Fastpasses, YOAMD Mickey Ears, and YOAMD lanyard and pins. I am sure there are others, these are just the daily giveaways... as you walk around the parks you will see people with those items on! :goodvibes There is actually a whole thread about the YOTMD winners (who has won what). I am not sure if the mail in contest is for US residents only, but anything in the parks is fair game for all visitors! Good luck and have fun! :goodvibes

We have been lucky. In 2 seperate vacations at the same place we have revieved YOAMD Mickey Ears, and YOAMD lanyard and pins in Epcot. Both times in the morning. We are going back for Thanksgiving maybe we can make it 3 for 3 with the fast passes.

You can also send in postcards to win. So far everyone says be in the parks early morning to get prizes from the dream team

we're going on 7 days (maybe an 8th one as well) all from early morning. 2 mornings to MK, 1 to AK, 2 to MGM and 2 to EPCOT. I hope that we are lucky to win at least once one of those things. It would be magical! Specially if its on our first day there... my DGF and my DBiL have never been to WDW so MK for our first day and to start such a trip with a special thing like one of these would be magical! :smickey:
