Fast passes during park day on cruise?

I just wanted to double check how fast passes work while on a cruise. I believe when I called I was told that we would need to use our key to the world cards in order to fast pass during our park day. I'm curious: is it true that all you need to do is walk up to a fast pass lane, scan your key to the world pass, and you can immediately get into the fast pass lane? This is what I was told, but it seems too good to be true. If so this would be a tremendous help since our park day is on Thanksgiving.

It may be your KTTW card or it may be a separate pass, but you do get three VIP fastpasses that can be used for any attraction at any time.

When we went last October we just scanned our KTTW card. My daughter had a DCL Magic Band and she scanned that.

Thanks all! We're headed to Epcot that day and will probably stay there most of the day. Not sure if we'll have time to get to another park with it being a holiday.

When we went last October, our Park hopper cards were left in our room the night before we got Port Canaveral. Those cards had the fast passes...not our KTTW card. They were preloaded with 3 anytime fast passes (per person) so you would just go to any attraction and scan your card at the fast pass lane. I think after those 3 were used up you could go and add more but they would be timed fast passes. We only used the 3 anytime fast pass.

I am not sure if this has changed for this year or not but that is what we did last year on the Magic!

We were just on the 10/14/17 Magic cruise with stop at WDW. We received a letter stating that instead of our KTTW card we would be issued separate park hopper passes. they were left in our room. And yes, you just walk up to an attraction, tap your park hopper and continue through the FP lane.

We went straight to EPCOT on the bus and we walked right to World showcase for the Frozen ride. The regular line was all the way out to the walkway but the FP lane had virtually no one on it. We tapped and walked past easily 200 hundred people. We waited for all of about 5 minutes to get on the ride. After that we went to Future world and did Nemo and some other things before we took the monorail to MK.

Be prepared....the bag check to get into EPCOT was the longest line we had all day. It took a good 20 minutes to get through. Everyone who exits any bus was in the line (and possibly people from the parking lot). I am not sure if there was another line for parking lot people but our line took forever.

Before we went to MK we stopped at the TTC and walked to the Poly for lunch. After lunch we boarded the Poly monorail to MK. Nice thing there was that they did a bag check as you entered the monorail line at the Poly so no bag check when you got to the MK. There were only about 15 people waiting to board the monorail at the Poly so bag check was simple and fast.

Thanks for the heads up about security. Did they still have a "no bags" line that was faster? I will put everything we need in my pockets if we can avoid a 20-minute line.

Our plan is to start at the Studios, lunch at the Poly (so glad I found a cancellation at Kona as it is Thanksgiving Day), and end at MK.

Yes, they had a no bag line which my husband and granddaughter went through. I took the bags through while they went in the other line and met me on the other side.

Where at Poly did you have lunch? We thought about that but then just decided we'd eat at food & wine at Epcot.

We just did Captain Cooks quick service.....we had a 2 year old with us and knew since it was close to nap time she would not sit through a sit down meal....I would have loved to do Kona! But, it worked out as the baby fell asleep in the stroller and we hung out in the Poly lobby and people watched for a bit. Probably could have done Kona after all!

When you first mentioned that I was going to ask how you handled nap time because I would doubt anyone would go back to the ship then return to the parks. Makes sense, that was a good choice. I would guess Contemporary would have been a good spot too.

She slept for over an hour and that was enough to have a happy child for the rest of the time we were in MK. We actually met up with friends at the MK who were on a "Give Kids The World" trip and hung out with them and their kids until we took the 6:00 pm bus back to the ship.

Before the cruise I was actually contemplating getting a room for the day at one of the value resorts just to have a place for her to nap and use a real pool (since she is only allowed in the splash zone onboard). But, realized we really would be giving up too much park time to do that.

In retrospect, I would have liked to go to Poly or some other suitable location for a nap too. :)

What time did you get to the parks after you left the ship. Did they have different buses for each park? What time did they advise you to head to a bus to get back to the ship and did everyone leave from one spot or was there buses for the cruise from each park?

You select which park you want to go to and what Bus you want to be on just like a Port Excursion. This thread has great images and info about returning to the ship https://www.disboards.com/threads/updates-for-nyc-cruises-that-dock-at-pc-for-wdw.3639963/
