Okay, last year we booked through AAA staying at DLH and I thought we had unlimited fast past. I know they don't have that any more this year but what is the regular fast pass then? How do you get that privilege?

Anyone with a valid park ticket can use the fastpass system

At the attractions that have fastpass you put in your park ticket and it will give you a fastpass. Just like the unlimited fastpass except you have to wait before you can get another.

If you get a fastpass for a ride at 10:30am with a return time for 11:30am-12:30pm you can get another fastpass at 11:30 am or when the first fastpass is usable.

If you get a fastpass for a ride at 10:30am with a return time of 1:00pm-2:00pm then you could get a new fastpass at 12:30pm or 2 hours after you got the first fast pass.

I would read HYDROGUY's desertation on how to use the fastpass system at the park. We have used it and have found you really do not need the AAA perk if you understand the system.

Last year we could only get one fast pass at a time for a given ride. Say Space Mt. We wouldn't get another fast pass until the time has expired on the previous fast pass for that ride. We could get fast passes for other rides.

If everyone can get a fast pass then what is the purpose. Last year it was like a perk for some DL guest and made sense this year I guess I don't get it.

Where is this HYDROGUY's desertation? Sorry I don't know.

The point of the unlimited Fastpass was you could get a fastpass for more than one ride at a time. With the normal system you can only get the one fastpass until the time it comes good or 2 hours later(which every is earlier). So you have to choose which ride you want to get the pass for.

Sorry if this is confusing, I'm confusing myself just by typing it.

Hydroguys rules is a post that he put out the explains the Fastpass system (much better than I can).

Sorry i don't have the link to it so you will have to do a search.

thanks guys, I did find the link and I am getting educated. I sure can say i liked the unlimited fast pass of last year though I did feel for the folks we pass in the other lines.

Thanks again for the help

The fastpass is not given to everyone. If I remember correctly the AP's do not get the privledge. I also think it may only come with 3 day plus parkhoppers. Disney does not tell you everything about how the system actually works.

All tickets work in the fast pass machines- a/p's and less then 3 day park hoppers included! No one is excluded from fast pass. There are people that dont understand it or choose not to use it, but its not because it's not available them.

AAA was offering "enhanced" fast pass to guests staying onsite. With enhanced you could hold one fast pass for each ride that offered FP, at one time. You could not get a 2nd FP for the same ride until the 2 hour window or the return time came up- which ever was first. However, as of the new year, AAA is no longer offering that perk. But, the regular fast pass good for one ride at a time until 2 hours or the return time, is still in place for ALL park guests.

If you look on the park maps it will tell you a little about it as well.

Thanks for educating me. I have been confused why anyone would stand in those lines when they have the FP option. Really never had to wait more than 5 minutes when using the FP the last two trips.

I think a lot of travelers dont bother to educate themselves before they go. They think the people in the fast pass line paid more for their tickets or have a special kind of pass, like Universals "front of the line" pass. Sometimes when you are going thru the fastpass line you'll hear people make comments about it. There are also (crazy) people that think that fp is unfair and choose not to use it. There isn't a large number of them! Mostly, you'll find that most people are just uneducated on the whole process.

I think a lot of people don't use FP becuase they are intimidated by the one hour return window. These are the people who grab a fastpass and then stand in front of the attraction waiting for the window to open so that they can use it!

Once you understand that you can use FP after the return window has supposedly closed, the system really has no downsides. But as others have said, many people don't do any planning or research before their trip and simply don't understand.

We used the enhanced FP last year with a AAA reservation and it does make planning easier, especialy if you have a volunteer who walks the park first thing in the morning grabbing FPs at each attraction. But DL is so compact, that it is not that difficult to manage your FP opporunties even without the enhanced feature.

Also, grabbing FPs has proven to be lucky for us. On our last trip, 2 days in a row, at almost the exact same time, we were awarded prizes from YOMD while on our way to pick up FPs for Spalsh. We got a dream FP the first day and ears the next.

I wish that the DIsney Travel Co offered Enhanced Fast Pass. What a great perk!!

WDT used to offer it to everyone that booked thru them. We had it during our Dec. 04 trip. We stayed at the Fairfield in, so onsite wasnt even a requirement at the time. But, I think that it gave too many people enhanced fast pass, so they had to figure out a way to limit it a bit. Offering it to AAA/ onsite guests really cut the numbers down.
