Fast Pass + system??

Ok, please don't shoot me for being out of the loop..but what is this FP+ system I keep hearing people reference? Thanks!

If i get the jist of it right, it sounds kinda like ADR for rides? Oh no..not MORE advanced planning...I know some will love it, and I will take advantage of it if i can...but I would love to be able to go to WDW without worrying about planning ADRs and RIDES times 6 months in advance!
