OK, we are ready to go. 6 more days and counting!!! We are in the final stage of finishing our park by park plan of attack. It has been a few years (way too many) since we've been to the World so I have a few questions about Fast Pass for those of you who are fluent with it.

1) I have a list of rides with me that are Fast Passable. Are the kiosks near each ride? Are they out in plain sight and easy to find?

2) On an average attendance day at any given park how much time do you usually have before your Fast Pass time comes around once you get the ticket?

3) For those of you who purchased a package with your hotel room does your room key double as your park pass which is what you use in the Fast Pass kiosk?

4) When you go to the ride that you have a Fast Pass for do you have to present the Fast Pass to a person or machine in order to get on the ride (I am assuming so?)?

If anyone has seen any other websites that give you more than just the general info that the disney site gives regarding Fast Pass tickets please post the URL in your reply.

Thank you so much in advance!

Hello. I've only been to WDW once, so I'm not an expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I can tell you what I experienced.

The fast pass kiosks were right by the entrance to the ride, and were well marked. The one for Mission:Space is kind of around the corner, but you'll see it. We went very early every day and the fast pass return time was never more than an hour out, if that. But I have read others here who say the return times were very late. I think as long as you go early, you will be OK. We purchased a package and, yes, our room key doubled as the park pass, which is used to get the fast pass. WHen you return to the ride, you just show your pass to the CM and get on the fast pass line. Do be warned, several times we waited on line at the fast pass return only to find that the people were just waiting for their return time to come! So, if you see a line, just ask what they're return time is. You can only get one rides's fast pass at a time, and on the bottom of the pass, it has the time that you can get your next pass. We used them a great deal and they were very helpful. Have fun on your trip!

The return time can vary a great deal. I've had some where the return time is a couple hours or more away. That happens for some of the major rides like TOT or Test Track. I've gone in the late afternoon to Epcot and there were no more fast passes available for TT. It really just depends.

It's not usally too hard to find the kiosks, but there are some that are "around the corner" like the above poster mentioned. Just ask a CM near the ride if you don't see it right away.

Using FP's is one of the wisest things you can do at WDW. :smooth:

Answers to your questions....

1) I have a list of rides with me that are Fast Passable. Are the kiosks near each ride? Are they out in plain sight and easy to find? ?)?Yes, all information you need is there even a CM at every station

2) On an average attendance day at any given park how much time do you usually have before your Fast Pass time comes around once you get the ticket? Depends on the time of day and the ride. Test track FP will run out early. Usual wait time is about 2-3 hours.

3) For those of you who purchased a package with your hotel room does your room key double as your park pass which is what you use in the Fast Pass kiosk? Yes

4) When you go to the ride that you have a Fast Pass for do you have to present the Fast Pass to a person or machine in order to get on the ride (I am assuming so) You how it to the first CM for admission into the line. That CM checks to see that you are on the right schedule. As you board the ride, you give the FP to another CM.

ope this helps. Don't worry, getting a FP is the easiest thing at WDW.

Fastpass is really simple and there are always CMs around to help you. After you do it once, you will be an old pro. But check out this website to get more educated now!

Say you get a FASTPASS and the return time is 3 or 4 hours out. Does that mean you can't get another one until that one has been used?

therealgoofy~

You can only hold one Fast Pass at a time, kind of. Ususally, while you are waiting for your window to open, you cannot get another Fast Pass. However, shortly after your window opens for your Fast Pass (about 5 minutes after, in my experience) you may get another Fast Pass. So what I like to do is this: Wait for my first Fast Pass window return time is open, then grab my second Fast Pass BEFORE boarding the ride for the first Fast Pass. This way, you can be riding an attraction while you wait for your second Fast Pass window to open. Usually, the window for Fast Pass return is an hour (for example~ 11:15 to 12:15, with another Fast Pass available at 11:20). Hope that makes sense!

According to a map I have from last year...

"You must use your current FASTPASS ticket, OR wait 2 hours, before getting another FASTPASS ticket for a different attraction."

However, I never understood how they knew I had used my old FP....

Another park map from the same week last year says...

"To find out when you can receive another FASTPASS ticket, simply look on your current FASTPASS ticket."

I'm thinking this is the updated info.

We were there this past Spring and they did have the time printed on your FastPass for when you could get another.

If in doubt, you could always feed your ticket in and if you aren't eligible for another, you won't get one!

I have found the FastPass system very easy to use and one that has enhanced our enjoyment of our WDW visits --- however, you still see a great number of people who don't know what it is (even though the system is prominently explained on park maps) and don't seem to understand the concept!!! Check out the people in the standby line give you dirty looks!!! LOL.

Have a great visit.

You don't have to USE your previous fastpass to get another - you only have to wait for the specified amount of time to elapse. If the return time is less than 2 hours, you can get your next pass 5 minutes after your return window begins. If it is more than 2 hours, you can get another one in two hours. It will tell you on your FP just when you can get another. It's a good system and from what I can tell, it is running the same as it did in June 2002.

At MGM on Sunday, we got a FP at RnR as we entered the park at 9am and the return time was 9:40 to 10:40. We rode RnR 3 times by 9:45 and went to get a ToT fastpass which had a return time of 10:30 to 10:40. Sadly, 3 consecutive rides on RnR gave me a headache and my husband was queasy, so we ate a snack instead of using the RnR fastpass. Then before we rode ToT, we went and got a FP for Who wants to be a Millionaire. It all worked out great.

(sorry, just love saying that word since POTC!) Using FP kind of becomes a game figuring what will work for your plans

We were there week of Aug. 17-22, and I felt the crowds were managable, but I do believe we went against the flow and did not do EEpark days.

First advise; Don't get freaked if a posted stand by line is 25 minutes (it usually is less). Actually, the posted time for Mission Space was 60 minutes and it was only about 35! Sometimes (depending on the situation and location) I feel you can waste as much time waiting for your FP time!

I know you said you're plans are all mapped out, but this "new" MK plan worked well for us; In the past we've always hit the Frontier Mtns first. This time we did Tomml. first and walked right on to SM and BLY. Then did a few things in Fantasyland and LS (HM). So far, no FP needed.

Then went over to Frontierland. Posted SB time for SplM was 60; 25 for BTM. We got FP for Spl. (2 hr rtn) and stood SB for BTM. It was less than 25 min. We then hit other attractions and came back for SplM.

We had pretty much done everything we wanted in 4 hrs.

Good Luck with your FP "savvy" and have a great trip! :) Natt

The fast pass kiosks are right near each ride, but sometimes, as stated in other posts, they are “just around a corner”. When you are near the queue entry area, look for a sign that says “Fast Pass Distribution”…..sometimes those signs are more prominent than the kiosks themselves…..just go to that sign and the kiosks will be right there.

On the bottom of your FP, it will print the time that you can get another FP. Generally, once you are holding a FP, you cannot get another FP for another 2 hours or until the beginning of the return time period printed on your FP (whichever comes first). We found some exceptions to that…..we only had to wait 5 minutes after getting a FP for the Haunted Mansion and the Jungle Cruise. Also, when we got a FastPass for Mission Space we were able to get another FP after only 5 minutes (this was a few days before the official opening, so I bet that has changed).

Once you are at the kiosk, before you put your ticket in, look at the display that shows the return time period that will be printed on your FP. You want to make sure that this time will work for you. For instance, if the FP return time is more than 2 hours away, it is likely that you will not be able to get another FP for 2 hours (unless your FP is on Haunted Mansion, etc). Now if you had been planning on seeing a show at a specific time and eating a meal just before or just after that, or maybe going back to the resort for a break at that time, if you don’t pay attention, you could end up getting a FP that will conflict with your plans and you either won’t be able to use it (and remember, you won’t be able to get any other FPs for 2 hours) or you will have to change your plans in order to use it. In that case, you may want to bypass that attraction and come back later for a FP with a time window that works better for you (and in the meantime, you may get a FP for a different attraction that will work better for you). Just be aware that FP machines will stop distributing FPs when they can no longer accommodate FP riders, so on some attractions, the FP machines will close down in the afternoon (even very early afternoon on crowded days).

You know, I really have never understood the dirty looks from the people in the stand-by line. We get them all the time when we are using our fast passes. I even had a lady one time throw her arm out in front of me and demand to know what time was listed on my fast pass. On our last visit, we were using our fast passes, and this guy in the stand by lane jumped out in front of us, pulled his daughter over with him (she was about 12) and said, "I'm not standing in this line anymore. They can just let us through!" His daughter looked horrified and tried to tell him that it wasn't going to work. He just replied with, "Watch me!" Even the fast pass line had a small wait that day, and while we were standing there (his daughter obviously totally embarrassed), my husband said, "You know, your daughter is right. They aren't going to let you go through without a fast pass." Again, "Well, just watch and see!" And of course, they politely told him no, tried to explain how it worked to him, but he just stormed off. It doesn't make sense to me not to use them.
