Fast Pass & Rider Swap???

I've read on a few blogs about this but was hoping for some updated info. We are a few days out from booking our fastpass+ and we have two adults and three young children in our party. To stretch our fastpass+ can we book them for one adult and one child in our party and then get rider swap passes for the others in party that don't have a fastpass for that attraction? Was thinking the other adult and other child in our party can get a fastpass for another attraction and the first adult and child can ride that with riderswap (will still have a third child that is too small for most attractions). I've read both ways that you can do this but other sites say everyone that is planning on riding needs a FP. Thanks for any advice you may have!!
