Fast Pass reconstruction possible

While my family& I were dining with imagineer this past June, our imagineer mentioned that they are feverishly trying to redo the fast pass system. They were looking into the same system that Universal has. For all that don't know, guests who stay onsite at Universal need to just show their resort card and have fastpass access to each and every ride as much as they want.

Our imagineer stated that DIsney could not do that but were looking at all avenues that would make if fair and equitable but at the same time giving the onsite resort guest a little advantage. Thus far, it is still at the drawing board because they cannot come up with a feasible solution..

I am very excited about this. Hopefully we will see a change within the next few years. But I am wondering, if onsite guests do get clear advantages, I am sure they will pay heavily for it.

I thought about this and decided it is worth it to pay extra bucks to get to the front of the line assuming that Disney would charge extra to have this privilege.
When I go to Universal I would not think of staying anywhere else but HRH. You save so much time and can be back at your resort pool in half a day. The extra money spent is worth it for me...

SO curious, anybody feel this way. and wouldn't FOTL access to all rides each and every time you go be so totally heavenly....

Imagine for a moment that WDW parks advertised to be open five days a week instead of seven. Magic Kingdom for example might be open Wednesday through Sunday. Epcot might be open Thursday through Monday. There would be no resort guest preferences on these days. Actually for the remaining two days the parks would still be open but only to resort guests. Now we will have FOTL for resort guests. What would crowding be like? At least under this system day guests would not be spending money on admission and then finding out they could not ride many attractions.

Hint: Search for some threads about EMH (extra magic hours).

The reason why fast pass reconstruction is so difficult is because it is not a wait time issue. It is a total capacity issue. The rides simply cannot handle all the people who want to get on them.

So if anyone is given any kind of preference, that means more others cannot ride at all. If I remember correctly, Test Track can take only 25,000 riders in the course of a day regardless of how many people are in the park or how many fast passes are issued. And taht assumes no breakdowns occur.

The only solution is to have more people visit WDW when it is less crowded.

The bottom line of what Universal Studios did was to charge more to assure getting on some of the rides. You either stayed at a hotel that costs more than the average for area hotels, or you spent more for a special coupon book.

I think it wouldn't be possible since there are so many disney hotels compared to universal's i think fotl is worth it too
