Fast Pass + Question

Ok…so I have a question. I feel so out of the loop! I used to be so up on all the goings ons at Disney and now I’m feeling lost!

Fast Plus +…So when I reserve fast pass +, I can do it at 60 days if I am staying on property and have tickets attached to my package? Or does it just have to be attached to my account?

Maybe my dilemma will help…We are going over Christmas and New Year’s. I have an idea of what I can definitely afford, probably afford, and hope to afford. I want to book the smallest and work my way up as I go, paying off each step towards the ideal vacation. So, I want to start by booking a package (well not start, I already have a Fort Wilderness Campsite reserved, room only) with 10 day hoppers. Ideally, I’d like to upgrade those to Annual Passes but I don’t want to have to downgrade later…I’d rather upgrade. Initially I thought I could upgrade when we arrive in the world. But as I “talked” to my online travel agent, I think I understood that if I do that I can only reserve my fast pass + options for 10 days because that is what my passes are for. Is that correct? So if I upgrade at the park, I will only get what is available on the day for fast pass + options, right? And since our trip is December 18 thru January 3, will I have to book for 10 consecutive days or will it just let me book any 10 days? If we do the 10 day passes, we will definitely not be doing the first 10 days….we will break them up with off days in between.

At that time of the year, being able to insure we get three rides a day is definitely preferred since we are expecting crowds to be huge! I should know by just prior to 60 days out if I am going to be able to do the upgrade or not but the way things are going in my life right now, maybe not! Darned car!!! But in case I don’t I just want to be prepared. I mean if I do upgrade to APs and we cannot get fast pass + for those days, I guess, we’re still in the parks so it’s better than nothing!

Tickets need to be linked to MDE.

You do not need to book a package. Tickets booked as part of a package become active when you check-in although you can book FPs 60 days before your arrival date... because of the package reservation.

Your 10-day park hopper is good for 10 days of FPs. As soon as you upgrade to an AP, go into MDE and book more FPs for more days of your stay.

from what I have seen the AP is only allowed to have 7 days of FPs at a time. If you have a resort stay of longer than 7 days consecutively, it appears you can make FPs for the length of the resort stay. I do know that if you have two separate stays within 60 days of each other you cannot book more than 7 days worth of FP for those stays.

If you book FPs on your 10 day ticket you do not need to book 10 consecutive days. The tickets are good for 14 days after they are first used. Your stay appears to be 15 nights, if you skip some days in parks it should work.

You do not need a package. You must have tickets linked to make them at all, and you must have a resort stay linked for the 60 days. You can do this with each component being purchased separately if you wish. If you have a package you have to start on the first day of your package as your tickets are tied to the package.

I have. Some of my more specific questions are not answered there that I see.

Which ones? From what I see in your post, all of them are addressed. And that would definitely be the place to ask FP+ questions, since there doesn't seem to be anything about them that mesaboy doesn't know. ;)

Ok...got it...I think...

So if we do the APs, I can book 7 days at my 60 day mark then does it work like ADRs where after that 7 days (so 7 days after my initial 60 days mark) at my second 60 days mark can I book the next 7, etc? Did that make sense?

With an onsite stay AND your AP, you can book for the length of your reservation.

APs who don't have an onsite stay have the 7 day maximum.

This is from Mesaboy's first POST:

Annual Pass (AP) holders can prebook attractions up to 60 days in advance of the beginning of an onsite stay, for a maximum of 7 days or the length of the onsite stay--whichever is greater. As with above, FP+ selections can be made for the entire length of stay.

That's for consecutive days in one stay, it didn't work for separate stays in January and March (both under 7 days). Only 7 at a time could be booked then.

If you have a 15 night consecutive stay and an AP it will let you book for all of the days of your stay. So it doesn't seem to matter if you buy the AP outright or if you upgrade your 10 day tickets to AP when you get there if you were not going to make more than 10 days of FPs anyway. If you wanted to make more than 10 days of FPs then you probably should just buy the annual.
