This is definitely a step in the right direction (now it's basically a paid version of FP+). Simply preselecting rides/times and being able to hold more than one is light years better than the current process.

I would still prefer a MaxPass type option, where you simply have LL access to each ride at your time of convenience, even for a higher fee, but this is definitely an improvement.

ETA: all the major blog sites are picking it up as well:

Oh boy, will this make our January trip better. We'll be traveling with a toddler, who won't be able to ride the thrill rides the adults like. This should allow us to manage better - so we can take her on Winnie the Pooh while her parents ride Seven Dwarfs, for instance.

And I'm happy they're starting in July - gives me time to follow along on Disboards as the kinks are worked out.

Still a few more questions than answers, but it does appear to be a tweaked version of FP+. 7 days for onsite guests instead of 60; 3 for offsite. I don't like that they brought back tiering at WDW. With the continuation of ILL (I guess now called Lightning Land Single Pass, or something like that), there will be 3 tiers of attractions at most parks, not just the 2 they used to have with FP+. I do very much like being able to select a time range in advance instead of 'next available', but I'm not sure I like having to select all 3 at only one park - at least initially. But we've been waiting for the changes, and as I expected - some will be viewed as good, some will be viewed as a step backwards! At least others will be working through it many months before we return to try it ourselves!

Unless I'm read this wrong, sounds like this is adding a new tier to G+ that allows 3 FP selections prior to visit, IE they are gonna charge a lot more for that vs normal G+...

Edit: Nope - read that wrong, they are changing the names, so the single thing is ILL

Ok this is great!

Yes, the names naturally have to be changed just to make things a bit more confusing!! I expect they wanted to keep Lightning Lane in the name since they've paid for all the signage!!

Thats a big change from FP+. wasn't it you had to use up your first 3 before you could get a 4th?
Yes - I remember trying to dump a 3rd fast pass at Muppets so we could book something at Epcot. My buddy Matt coined the term “Muppet Dump” for this procedure of intentionally booking a non exciting third easy to get fast pass just to swipe and not even enter the ride to be able to make a new one at a different park.
The wording on the site now says:

I’m planning to visit more than one theme park in the same day. How do I make Lightning Lane Multi Pass selections for more than one park?

Answer

When you purchase a Lightning Lane Multi Pass for a theme park, you’ll be prompted to choose up to 3 multi pass experiences and arrival windows in the same theme park.
Once you redeem a selection on the day of your park visit, you can use the My Disney Experience app to choose another multi pass experience in any Walt Disney World theme park (subject to availability), as long as you have a valid ticket with the Park Hopper option or an Annual Pass.
The ability to visit another park is subject to the park’s capacity limitations.
