I just got off the phone to reserve my room at disney for august. I asked the cm about the rumour circulated about the fast passes are only going to be offered to onsite guests. She said this is the first that she heard of this. So then I called Universal because I knew they were taking away express pass system that was offered for free to find out if they would be instituting it in the summer when it was busy and the guy said no, that they have already started to take away the systems in the park. I then told him that it would probably take away business and he said that they were just following the other amusement parks, like disney. He then said that disney has already started to take away some of their fast pass.

So here is my gripe, if travel is increasing, the parks are going to be packed. How many of us are going to stand in 2 hour lines. Guess pretty soon I will be exploring the rest of Ameria for my vacations. Just wanted to pass this information along.

Well if you ask a PR person at Pepsi, he/she will tell you that Coke contains rat poison. :rotfl:

Don't worry. there are no plans to get rid of Fastpass. You'll read it here first if it happens.

Maybe the Universal CM was referring to some of the attractions who no longer have FP, that did during its early years (ie. Millionaire, HM).

For some attractions, FP is no longer needed, so they stop offering them. Maybe Universal was slightly misinformed, or using that tidbit to make them look better.

FP is still relatively in its infancy (it began in 1999). The system will definitely be going through changes. Disney really puts a lot into getting the word out about it, so I doubt it will be going anywhere.

Disney hadn't taken any away last month when we were there.

I like the pass you can buy at Universal. There aren't any time limits, so you can do what you want when you want to do it. If you get there early and ride without using your FP, you can ride again with it. And if the ride isn't busy, they don't even cross it off, so you can ride multiple times.

I actually hope Disney does institute this.

I am really torn if I would like them to do this (for the most part, I could afford the extra $$, with a little budget planning), but I kind of like that it is offered for everyone for nothing.

Paying for Fastpasses is ridiculous! Just go on the standby lines when no one's there. The only rides I ever need FP for are Splash Mountain and Test Track. Plan right and you won't NEED Fastpasses. They're nice to have, but if you had to pay for them, I would never do that. I think it's terrible for Disney to single people out like that.... ... ...unless it was for resort guests only... .. ;) (please get my sarcasm)

If Disney were planning to take away FastPass, why would they put in FP machines at Expedition Everest?

I don't know why Disney would get rid of FP, it makes too much sense. Tweak it maybe, but get rid of it - not anytime soon I hope. And if there ever comes a day they decide to charge for FP they can forget it!

I love fastpass. It is without faults but it is better than waiting in long lines. Babyswap is also another great feature. I don't think disney will get rid of it - they hyped it so much.

You read my mind! That is exactly what I was thinking.
