Hi,
My SIL is going to the parks next week but will need a wheel chair because of a recent foot surgery. We were wondering if she still should/could take advantage of FP or if the wheel chair negates the need for using one. :confused3
Thanks

It's a little mixed. In DL you won't it's all so old nothing will accomodate WCs easily so they have special entrances. In DCA the ques are HCA so you will want FP on a few.

When you go to the parks, pick up a the Accesibility Guidebook and it will explain each attraction and then talk to CMs.

In Disneyland, the rides that you can use FP with a wheelchair are Autopia and Star Tours. If she is on an ECV, then no on Star Tours. I would also want to say a wheel chair doesn't "negate the need". The access line for rides like Space Mountain are usually just as long, if not longer, than the standby line. If your SIL can walk the FP line, and can exit using stair, you can get a FP, and leave the WC with the strollers. If not, the access line for Space is nice, it has a rock bench so everyone has a place to sit while they wait. Most of the other FP lines do not have seating though.

Be aware on Big Thunder Mountain, if the ride should go down while she is on it, she will need to walk a distance using stairs. They don't generally let you know this until you are ready to board. They also don't always remember to tell you on Pirates. Cast members are not allowed to assist you in exiting, only your own party will be allowed to assist for protection of the employees.

DCA is totally accessible, and she can use FP there on any ride it is available.

I would ask about using the Fast Pass at DL if it is crowded. We were there 2 Sundays ago and the WC access to Space, Big Thunder and POTC were really long and they looked really slow. I know on Buzz and Star Tours you just get in the normal line.

You can't use FP in a wheelchair on Space and BTMRR. POTC does not have FP. The reason you cannot use it on the other 2 is due to the way the ride loads. Space Mountain loads into a special rocket. The rocket holds 12 people (2 sets of HA people when limited to 6 per WC.) It takes 3-4 cycles per times the rocket is loaded, thus the reason for not being able to use FP.

Like I said previously, if her sister can walk the distance of the FP line, then park the wheelchair with the strollers and walk the line. It is much faster.
