I customised my magic band yesterday and added my resort reservation today. One thing I've suddenly noticed is you can add FP+ reservations for counter service restaurants (I think that's right). Is this absolutely necessary, as I am trying to not be rigid in my planning, just be very loose and decide what and were I want to go on a day to day basis

Not to most places but places like BOG gets busy for lunch people start queuing at 10am for a CS lunch

That's good to know. I already heard BOG was busy at lunch so I decided already to avoid going there.

What about my meal on the first night. I was just going to explore my resort (POR) the day I arrive, so would it be prudent to reserve myself a table for then?

The only QS restaurant that is set up for FP+ at the moment is BoG.

Don't worry you can still be flexible with the rest :thumbsup2

The day that guests have to plan around and book CS meals will be the day I am no longer found on these boards, because I would have found an alternative location for our vacations.

OP, we are giving BOG a miss for the same reasons as you. In addition, nothing on the menu really grabs us.

Have you done BOG before?
I only ask as we did an evening meal and it was really beautiful!
So very worth every penny, and so I'd like to do the QS lunch this time, as well as the dinner I've booked, many I've spoken to said that although it looks insanely busy, due to size OCD your in its not bad at all! Plus they bring god food when its ready " big bonus" :)

Our friends recently did CS with FP+ and still ended up waiting quite a while. I guess I might do it to go in and see the place, but it wouldn't be for the food. While we are happy with CS fare, quick service food is quick service food and having to adapt from being FP hoarders and returning whenever we pleased with them throughout the day, to having just 3 (and tiered at that!) per day, a meal is not really where I want to be burning one.

I don't doubt that it's wonderful; I just think it depends on what is important to you on a trip and attractions and shows will always leave meals in the dust for us :)

Lee you are not alone - you won't find us at BoG either ;)

I had dinner - found it to be overpriced and not very good. Met some friends who had been for lunch and where not that impressed as the food again wasn't great and it cost $40 for 2 :scared:

I'm glad you showed up here. I was just feeling like the killjoy on the thread.

I really do get the concept of booking a meal for the experience and not just the food. But if we are going to eat something I do at least want to enjoy what I'm eating and the menu didn't strike me as anything particularly exciting. I know of plenty people who absolutely loved it, so I didn't mean to imply that it's bad; but the people I know personally who have eaten there were underwhelmed by it all

BoG was the biggest anticipation of our last holiday - my first reservation made 180+10 days out. As a massive B&tB fan I was overcome by the level of detail in the restaurant - it really was amazing (I believe I even cried - I know saddo!)

Sadly, having enjoyed our starter we were rushed by some runners bringing our main courses over without clearing our first course - there was no where to put the plates and despite me asking if they could clear the table first he tried to balance my main course plate on top of my starter plate!! DH asked them a second time - please can you clear the table as my wife asked - there is no room - to which the man replied rudely "What do you expect me to do - I only have two hands" NEVER have we encountered such rudeness from a CM

And that was it... the whole evening meal ruined - I left the restaurant in tears - but not the happy ones I entered with. I was so looking forward to this experience too :sad1: DD really wants to go again as she loved her meal there but I am not convinced - bad memories - too busy, low quality - it really is the experience and surroundings you go for.

We left no tip for this meal at all (first and only time we have ever felt that strongly) we also spoke to the manager after and explained our upset and reasons for no tip - he asked what we wanted and I simply said just for him to speak to the runners involved and ensure that it does not happen to another guest.
