We are taking our almost 3 year old DS for his first trip to DL this week (yay!). We will be in park on Wed & Thurs, and will also have grandma along. DH and I would like to do sneak away at some point during the 2 days to ride Space Mountain, Indiana Jones, and BTMRR. What would the FP strategy be for this? We won't get to DL until around 11:00AM on Wed, and plan to use our MM entry on Thurs.

Thanks.

If you are at DL at 11AM and start collecting FPs right away you should be fine. I would get Space first at 11AM, Indy second at probably 1PM or earlier and the BTMRR third at 3PM or earlier. You may not need a FP for BTMRR.

Consider Indy single rider! We will probably do that rather than "waste" FP's from now on...we have never waited longer than 5-6 minutes to ride Indy. :)

Have you looked into Rider Swap? Grandma doesn't have to be a baby sitter the whole time.

Second Hydroguy's recommended order. This will work fine for the next morning too if you would prefer to have your alone time on the Thursday instead. You can start collecting fastpasses once MM is over.

Single rider and rider swap are good options if you simply want to be able to ride the rides. Rider swap can work in conjunction with fastpass too I believe, although I've never had occasion to try rider swap with or without fastpass. If Grandma doesn't mind watching your son though (maybe she's even looking forward to that alone time with him or maybe they'll both want an afternoon rest or nap?), then I recommend riding together with your husband. DH and I have only once had the opportunity to be alone together in DL (and that was only 1 1/2 hours), but it was fun, almost like a "date". I enjoy the rides and have on occasion ridden something by myself, but I have found that a significant part of the experience for me is riding with someone else, whether that is DH, one of my sons, or another family member or friend.

I think Grandma will take DS on Mark Twain while we are on BTMRR, and then maybe on Jungle Boat Cruise while we hit Indy. For Space, I thought I'd put them on the Monorail. I don't know if this will all work out or not, but we can play it by ear a little.

For Rider Swap, do we all wait in line together, and then just one of us goes on the ride while the other adult stands there with DS?

how rider swap works- go up to the cast member working the line. Ask for a rider swap card as a group- then either you or DH will wait in the line while the rest of the party does something else. DH gets off the ride then you return to the exit or where the CM or pass directs you to go. You board pretty much right away.

Baby swap is the best. For Space Mountain you get to walk through the exit to the ride. If you use this and a Fastpass you will save tons of time. Remember that the Fastpass tickets DO NOT need to be used during their one hour time slot. You can use them any time after the beginning of your return time.

Have fun!

We always hit Space first and then move over to Indy and then Splash. Seems to work out good. Usually DS (16) and I walk fast to Space after rope drop, grab fast passes (with everyones hoppers) and then ride it real fast before we return to the group.:cool1:

Since Grandma, you and hubby will all have tickets you can use each ticket for a FP. Then, when you are ready to use the FP you can ask the CM at the FP line for a Rider Switch Pass. They will hand you one of those little beauties which allow the other adult to ride at a later time. You and DH take your FP's or Rider Switch pass and ride the ride (rider switch allows 2 people to ride at a time). Then when you are ready you have at least 2 FP's or a Rider Switch pass and you can ride the ride again!! It is AWESOME. You get double the bang for your FP! Rider Switch passes work like FPs - you need to use them before the end of the same day.

Wow, that's a great idea! I was hoping to get to ride Space once, but now I'm getting greedy and thinking twice is possible :yay:
