Fashion Island Shopping?

Is this an ourdoor mall - is it close to DL? Anyone ever been stop by? Thanks

Without traffic, it's 20+ minutes from DL. Yes, it is an outdoor mall but, it's really nothing too spectacular or unique.
South Coast Plaza in Costa mesa, while not outdoors is a huge place. The Block at Orange is less than 10 minutes (all surface streets) from DL and is nice. Fashion Island is nicer but, eh. The Spectrum in Irvine is another nice outdoor shopping mall.

Fashion Island is an outdoor mall and although it doesn't boast anywhere near the same amount of stores as South Coast Plaza it is a great strolling mall with beautiful grounds and a fantastic Koi pond and train for small kids to ride.

South Coast Plaza has every store you can think of, many high end and is actually two structures connected by a bridge. For kids there is a large carousel in the main building and a very small carousel in the smaller building. This mall will fill an entire day and then some.

Main Place in Santa Ana is another really nice indoor mall that's only a few minutes from Disneyland.

My husband and I always make a stop at least at Fashion Isl. or South Coast Plaza. It depends on what we are looking for. If we just want to stroll we go for FI, but if we intend to really shop then we go to SCP. FI has some stores that are ridiculus in price, for example, we went into the candy store by the carosel and 1 pound of chocolate candies was over $60.00. This wasn't even their good stuff. We do love going to the Cheesecake Factory, but now our town has one, so we will probably not do that next time. Have Fun.
