With as many Academy members that pass away each year, they have to be somewhat selective as to who makes the montage.

Both of these ladies, while wonderful, did the bulk of their work, including what made them really famous/notable, on television.

well Farah was in Dr. T and the Women or whatever it was called and it was a movie. Just seemed glaringly obvious.

I wondered that too. Maybe because Thriller was actually a mini-film, and considered groundbreaking at the time? He also did The Wiz and soundtrack work for several films.

Also, he was Michael Jackson.

yep....the academy dropped the ball on at least Farrah....Farrah earned Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her work in The Burning Bed, last I checked MJ dod not accomplish that in movies.

That's kind of the point. Yeah, Farrah was in a movie or two, but you have to think to recall one and even then you're not 100% sure of the name. I would have to use IMDB to come up with something for Bea Arthur.

They were TV actors who died. They were honored at the Emmys.

I realize some people find their omission notable, but to me it makes sense. They can't include every famous person who died.

Because whoever the director/producers are this year?... maybe they're also IDIOTS (BTW, it's not the stand-by of Gil Cates this year, it was Adam Shankman and Bill Mechanic.)

Hahahahaha, just found this Hollywood Insider article, the two were saying they wanted to bring a "sense of fun and a sense of levity" to the show. Hmmmm...anyone think they succeeded?

*sigh*, I thought I'd like Martin and Baldwin better than I did, but those STOOPID production numbers that AMPAS insists on putting in every. single. stinkin'. show...why? WHYYYYY?!? I love me some Neil Patrick Harris, but I couldn't stand to watch his number, had to leave the room!

I love those ladies, but they are mainly television actresses. Every person who ever acted in a film can't be mentioned. They had to spread the tribute out to include, writers, directors and those in the technical fields.

As for Michael, "This Is It" was recently released in theatres, not to mention that his song, "Ben" was nominated for an Oscar in 1973.

Seems the producer said it was a "lack of time" thing.

Could have saved some valuable time by eliminating that awful Neil Patrick Harris production number.

It doesn't bother me as they are primarily TV actresses. Can't show everyone and they will/have gotten their earned respect at the Emmy's.

While many of these were not blockbusters she certainly made enough movies to be listed. They've listed people before with less roles.
They dropped the bucket by leaving her out. .

Neil Patrick Harris was in Harold and Kumar go to White Castle. I'm still a little traumatized by his performance in that one.
