FarmVILLE on Facebook

I agree. With my co-ops, it is generally a matter that some of us over-seed, and so we are essentially backing each other up, in case someone cannot get back in time to harvest.

This is what we do. My DD and DSIL have a lot of plots so they can overseed. They also plant the the crop that takes the most plots when we are in a job that requires more than one kind of crop. We time it so that we are not planting crops that cannot be harvested reasonably.

The problem is if you have plots seeded when the total is reached, yours does not count. So it looks like you freeloaded when you really did make an effort.

If they're going to work it that way, they should definitely prohibit joining a co-op after it is fully seeded. Since they're not doing that, and given the overall collaborative nature of the feature, it seems clear that the intention is to allow folks to back each other up.

I've been watching a whole field of crops wither away on one of our Co-Op's farms. No big deal. We weren't going to get Gold anyway, but it was good news for another person who was able to seed late, but will now get good credit for the work.

Ours will finish up tonight, and I'm certain I'll join someone else's late, just for the whole "backup" idea.

Does anyone know what happens when you quit a co-op after seeding? I joined a co-op and noticed that the person who was running it hadn't put any effort in it so I quit and used my crop for a different co-op. Did my seeding disappear? Or did it still look like my crops were there?

I'm done with co-ops. Until the glitches in the game are fixed, and can't possibly do them. I don't have many animals, and they are on stay. The game takes forever to load, and most of the time, my person is white and all my plots are green grass and don't come up. I've lost a lot of crops now, and am letting my groups down because I can't get the game to load. It's getting very frustrating and I'm tired of it. lol

It may be your internet connection. At work ;) , Farmville is painfully slow, but still manageable. At home, where we have the top tier FiOS package, I can zoom around everyone's farms without issue. Even the Level 70's with all their fancy doo-dads and animals load right up.

I think some, if not all, of what you're referring to indicates that the game's practical system requirements are higher than perhaps your equipment or Internet connectivity are able to provide. I play at three locations, and at all three, load time is almost always less than 20 seconds, and often less than 5 seconds. My avatar is all white, and my plots show up as grass, only once or twice a week, and even then, only for about five or six minutes (during which time I've assumed that Zynga is running some sort of backup process on their servers, which necessitate the issue). I have quite often expressed concern about what I've seen in terms of how much the game seems to tax my system -- far more than I think a game should. However, they could just be aiming to optimize the game for more modern, beefier hardware and connectivity.

I have noticed, by the way, a very very very substantial difference in performance between running the game within Firefox versus Microsoft Internet Explorer. FarmVille runs substantially faster, more reliably, and less invasively within Microsoft Internet Explorer. Unfortunately, I've also noticed that Facebook runs better in Firefox. So basically the way I play the game is by logging into Facebook using Firefox, clicking the bonuses in the News Feed, and accepting gifts and such (making sure that the game itself doesn't load using FlashBlock), and then logging out. Then I log into the FarmVille.com using Microsoft Internet Explorer, to play the game itself.

No, we have a very fast internet connection. It happens on most of the computers I try, it could be the time that I get on, maybe many are using at the same time... but this happens a lot. Mainly when I need to harvest, conveniently enough.

Interesting. I don't think we can really talk about those things as glitches in the game, since neither I nor my wife have those kinds of issues. I'm only available to play maybe three times a week. ;)

I have also been playing FV in IE, but I read Facebook on Firefox because of the Firefox add-on (Feed Filter) that makes the ads go away. I might go ahead and block FV from loading with FlashBlock ... good idea!

The problem with prohibiting anyone from joining after the co-op has been completely seeded is if they don't harvest in time, someone else can't come in and help.

Any seeds planted or harvested are deducted from the co-op if you leave early.

REALLY? I have stopped using MSN explorer for anything at all - it is soooo slow and laggy, and you can forget about playing games on it. I don't even use it to check my msn email, I go to the hotmail website. I use FF but I am not happy with that either. My farm loads so slow and I cannot visit any other farms without it freezing. I think it may have more to do with my PC though, it is about 5 years old. We run the fastest cable connection offered.

Uh, I think you missed part of the conversation (alluded to by the phrase in bold). I was saying that if they're not going to count the crops that were planted after the co-op is fully-seeded toward the number of harvests required, then they should prohibit joining a co-op after it is fully seeded.

I would uninstall MSN Explorer, including all the add-ons that were installed in it, and just install IE (IE8, not any earlier version) alone. It is much faster than FireFox.

Yeah 5 years is pretty old for a computer. That could be the reason why you'd encounter a lot of performance issues with newer software, optimized for today's faster, more technically-advanced dual core and quad core CPUs.

I'll have to try that, since I'm a Firefox bigot. I wonder if it's the same for Mafia Wars too and the other Zynga games.

I'm going to try it in IE, too, and see if that makes my problems go away.

Thanks for the tips.

I don't notice any improvement with Mafia Wars on IE.

I tried bicker's suggestion and IE is faster. I did freeze once while in full screen mode.
