once you get 8 neighbors you can sell anything. I've sold a bunch of my gifts, including trees. I just don't have as much room as I'd like right now for all the gifts I've gotten. I made a little orchard tonight, and you really can group the trees pretty tight. Though if you plan on harvesting them it could get a smidge difficult. I harvest mine at the moment cause I need all the coin i can get. Might not later but for now, everything harvestable gets sold.

When your trees are packed in tight, I think you can harvest the one on the end, then "hide" it to show the next one in line to harvest. Then "hide" that one. You can do that till they are all harvested.

You get more coin having someone else harvest them. You just go to the marketplace and sell the harvest after they finish if you need the money. I am going to sell the palm trees, they don't seem to make anything.

My list isn't updated. I keep adding one DISer and yet she never shows up on my neighbor list.

Is there a limit to how many neighbors you can have?

Also, if you accept email notifications to tell you when your farm has been tended by your neighbors, you can visit your neighbors' farms to return the favor. You can open that link three separate times, for 15 coins and 6XP each. Easy money for farming and a lot of XP for little work.

Ohhh wow I've really been missing out!! I've been just clicking my the My Neighbors tab and then later neighbor by neighbor on the bottom of the screen. And deleting the emails as I visit everyone anyway.

They will automatically show back up when you reload. And a space marker is left in their spot while they are hidden.

After all that stuff I posted above I forgot to ask my question

When we are on FB can we "hide" or do we always show in the chat list at the bottom of the page? I know when I used to have ICQ we could "show to all" or we could "show to specific friends" or we could be totally hidden. I have one friend (not a farmtown nor DIS'r friend that everytime I'm on she wants to chat the whole time. I don't want to hurt her feelings but dang, it would be nice to be able to pop in and check my farm or pop in to check my messages.

Yes you can. If you click on the FB chat, down in the right hand corner, then click on options, click Go Offline. You can also Go Offline for different friend lists. Like, I have a list for family, friends, farmtown friends, old school mates, etc. I can pick and choose which lists I want to be online for.

Who are the random people you do not know that just stand in your farm? Why are they there? I have had two people in my farm that just stood there for quite a while..

I don't know, but it is really creepy. Usually, they just stand there in the middle of the farm. But, sometimes they wander around. That's when I want to put up the no trespassing sign or sic the dogs on em.

I saw that button on Slashkey last night in the midst of the panic. Those people are seriously addicted to their Farmtown. It was hilarious.

Palm trees and pine trees don't produce anything. I think I was sending everyone pine trees when I first started. Oops...my bad.

My Mom signed up last night but she is not showing up in My Neighbors list either. It's annoying.

Neighbors are your facebook friends. Add the people in the DIS Farmtown group, then request you become neighbors.

The Buddy list is for those people you meet on FT with whom you have a good relationship--whether it's chatty or simply a win-win with the harvesting--that you want to keep in mind for harvests, but without becoming FB friends. You'll be able to send messages and visit each others' farms.

In general, I look to see if any of my neighbors are on when I have a crop. If not, then I got to my Buddy list and last to the marketplace. The problem with the Buddy list--or at least my Buddy list--is that it doesn't show me whose online. I have to visit their farms. At least it keeps me out of the market.

Oh, and be warned. Some people want to Buddy with you so you'll give them work, but they never return the favor. Don't feel obligated to keep them on your list--bulldoze at will.

Thank you for explaining this all to me! I'll have to go back to the Dis list and make a few friend requests. : )

I believe that people just *show up* in your farm from clicking on you in MarketPlace or Realtor's Office?? I know sometimes people just go *farm hopping* just to see how everyone designs their farms??

Things I learned today, for those who aren't on the FB group:

1) The game combined gift and neighbor invites, so if you've sent out the maximum number of gifts for the day you can't invite anyone to be your neighbor.

2) If you want to delete someone from your buddy list, visit their farm (I'm offline when I do this) and then delete them. I can't get the delete button to work from my farm.

3) Coconut trees are only available as gifts and, because they cost you nothing, don't take up a lot of space, etc. will give you the highest rate of return in the long run. Plus, harvesting them doesn't ruin the aesthetics of your farm!

How long do your "ready to harvest" crops last before they go bad?

Also, what's the deal with the fruit trees? It seems that a lot of people let them sit harvested. Is there a reason for this? Do you get more fruit later, or do you risk having the fruit rot if you don't harvest it right away?
