Farm Aid , Star Lake, and Neil Young

DH has Farm Aid on the TV. It is at Star Lake Amphitheater (Post Gazette Pavillion maybe - - it goes by the sponsor's name ) which is about an hour away from here. Neil Young is on now. Boy does listening to HIM take me back to my college years!

Now Willie Nelson - the headliner and founder of Farm Aid - is on. Even those who don't like country can appreciate his music.

My DD is soooooo sad that she and her BF could not get tickets to this concert. She really wanted to see the Dave Matthews Band. One of her classmates lucked out and got tickets. I guess the tickets sold out in under an hour.

I can never get used to calling the stadiums, Civic Arena, etc. by their new "sponsor" names........

I went to Farm Aid in Austin in the Summer of 1986. What a mess!! I hope that they've fixed the problems. We did meet Joe Walsh in the elevator at the hotel, though.

I've always wanted to go to one of Willie's many benefit events. I was lucky enough to see him many years at a local venue in Houston. Willie's one of a kind and I like him a lot.

Wow, I remember when Farm Aid started.

John T Bap, what were the problems back then? I'm just curious.

The problems were basically caused by too many people in too little space at the same time. We got up at 5 AM to beat traffic and burned a quarter tank of gas waiting in line to park. UGH. Couldn't see, couldn't hear, left early and called it a day.

I watched farmaid last night, gotta give Willie alot of credit to perform at his age, but it isfor a very good cause. I enjoyed Neil Young also.
