My family is moving to the Fargo / Moorhead area and I was wondering how many DVCer's are from there and if you had any tips about flying from there or do you fly from Minneapolis. :confused3

I don't live in FM but am originally from ND and went to school in Grand Forks at UND (Go Fighting Sioux Hockey!). I now live in Mpls/St. Paul.

I'm sure Frozenfingers can give you more info but I know Northwest Airlines flies out of Fargo to Mpls and then Orlando. I would guess the flights are cheaper out of MSP than FAR but you also have the 4-5 hour drive you have to consider.

IMHO, the people in ND are as nice as they come and Fargo/Moorhead is a nice little city. My DH agrees. The best of luck on your move!
:)

The people in MN are WONDERFUL. I bet you'll love Fargo. I lived in Rochester and met a lot of people from N MN and they are great!

I could've taken the weather if I found a job I liked up there.

I live in a small town (aren't they all in ND) about 2 hours south of Fargo. We are flying out of Minneapolis for our June trip. It was much cheaper to fly out of there. It was around $150 or so less when I was looking and booked our flight. We paid $206 for our tickets, but I have seen some as low as $179 since then. However, ours flight is nonstop and I am willing to pay extra for that. We are have a reservation for a park and fly package for $99.

I agree that the people in ND are some of the nicest you will find. Good luck!

Eis67: check your email.. if the addy isn't valid, feel free to PM me..

NDMommy: Which park and fly? DW and I had just a terrible experience with Days Inn Eagen last Dec. I see the Crown Plaza on Pilot Knob offers park and fly, for only $88.. but can only leave the car for 7 days..

LuvnMickey: I too am a UND grad.. son is freshman at NDSU.. what the hell is wrong with todays youth?

It is at the Holiday Inn Bloomington/Airport. We went with that one because we need to leave the car for 8 days. They will let you park there for up to 2 weeks. I found that many of them only allow you to park for a week.

You can fly out of Hector airport in Fargo or drive to Mpls-StPaul. You might gain a price advantage by flying out of Bloomington (MSP) but you also have to factor in the other costs such as driving to the Twin Cities (3 - 4 hour drive depending on what speed you drive - I'm giving a wide range here) plus the cost of parking. If you have an early flight, you might stay at a hotel the night before. All these things are factors.

I don't park and fly, but one of my friends who's also DVC, stays at the Fairfield Inn. Not sure if that's Bloomington or Eagen or what. But she usually gets the Park & Fly for $89 and they have a free breakfast buffet. If you are leaving early, she said they will ask when you want coffee and juice ready and have it ready for you.
