We always have to pay in April, so we wait until the very last possible minute to mail the check.

Disnee Dad Says...................................We always get a refund, as we feel it is our duty to lend money to the govmint, so they can blow it. That is why 4023 was so upset, the first time we ever had to pay. We claim -3, unborn, but it didn't help this year. Dang rentals actually made money. So the choice is spend a dollar in interest, get a 28% tax break and end up with 28 cents, or pay no interest, pay the 28% tax, and end up with 72 cents in pocket.
BTW Has anyone seen 4023? She's kinda freaking, pouring rum on the check didn't seem to help.

I wouldn't worry about the pm Dandave. Your not the first to get a stupid pm from some humorless person and you won't be the last.

Oh and thanks for your check. Our refund went to recovery for being laid off for 9 months last year.

I thought it was a very cute way of dealing with the situation. I'm still scratching my head trying to figure out what anyone could take offense with.

We're getting a refund, and I promise to take care of poor little 798 when it shows up here. We'll probably be sending it off to college, it's where all our money goes.

Well, I guess the PM could have been taken in two different ways. Either:

1)The sender wanted a "private" moment to try to rub my face in the fact that her huge refund was paying off a DVC purchase
or
2)The sender felt like I was begrudging those who receive refunds. After all, they have paid their "fare" (sic) share of taxes.

Since I know that no Dis regular could possibly be so catty as to attempt number 1, I'll assume the PM's primary purpose was meant to convey number 2. Therefore, I accepted the blame and apologized. Hopefully, all is now right with the world.

Well ... as you know, it was me who sent you the mysterious PM. You missed the real reason I PM'd you. I really found this thread amusing (until now) and wanted to "chat" off-line a bit. I guess I didn't use enough emoticons to show that I was really amused and not annoyed. I also had no intention to "rub your face" my refund. I am sorry that you thought that .

I am not in the habit of disclosing PMs, but since these were mine, I thought I would go ahead let everyone see exactly what I wrote since you chose to disclose part of it anyway. I left out what you said in your apology which seemed genuine (albeit unneeded) at the time.

Yes, that would be us. I don't quite get it why we get so big of a return, but we do. My husband, a level-headed person in all other aspects, lets the IRS save for us. *sigh* At least we'll be able to pay off last year's DVC purchase in a few weeks.

BTW, it's not like we don't pay our fare share ... we certainly do! We just end up overpaying quite a bit.

You did not offend me in *any* way! I thought your post was very funny, as a matter of fact. I'm sorry that you thought my PM was defensive ... it wasn't meant to be! I just didn't want to share with the world that we got a very big return.

I am saddened that you said such mean things about me and made fun of my homonym after you "apologized". I really feel like I have been blind-sided here by someone who I thought I was having a friendly conversation. I guess I was wrong .
