Blockbuster should sell/rent the dvd or not. I don't go to them for their opinion.

Frankly, I don't think the OP was verbally assualted, but it was VERY poor customer service.

I now go to a nonchain video store because of the clerks at our Blockbuster not paying atention to customer service. I want to find my video and check out QUICKLY. Blockbuster has too many yapping clerks, long lines, lackluster selection. Buh bye. Adios.

AARRRGGGH!!!! What part of my point did you not understand? I am not debating the economy. No one's whining here - I am just saying mikeymar's comment was offensive and gave my reasons why. Sheesh!

Let me put it more simply.
People needing to watch their budget = understandable. Especially (but not limited to) during ANY time that the economy is struggling/recovering/just plain not good.
People deciding to be cute and tell those budget watchers to go back to finish high school = not understandable and offensive

If Mikeymars said this :" Cash flow is that tight, eh? Sounds like it's time to go back and finish high school..... " to someone during the Clinton administration, that would also be offensive.

Honestly, if your point is that mikeymars' comment was offensive, then leave it at that. I completely agree.

But then you throw in comments about the state of the economy that many people disagree with. It detracts from your point.

Going back to the original post -
Like another poster, I also used to work in a book store. We were told that unless we were specifically asked for an opinion on a book, then we were not to comment on it. If that clerk had said that to me, if I wasn't too flustered (which can happen), I would ask for the manager and then complain to the manager, because that behavior is neither appropriate nor professional.

It reminded me of an incident when a supermarket cashier told me that the ice cream and junk food I was buying (for my DD's birthday party) was going to kill me. I was dumbfounded.

Could you(or anyone) give some specific examples? I hear people make this criticism all the time, maybe because it's easy to say. But what, specifically, are you referring to?

Don't get me wrong, I agree you need to watch Moore's films with a critical eye. But it seems to me that's it's popular to make this type of broad criticism without ever having to back it up(not saying that you couldn't, but no one ever seems to do it).
