FAQ about the Disney Dining Plan

NO. We had our immediate family in 2 rooms, reserved by me, but because there were 2 adults in the party, my dh was on one room and me on the other. The cards were divided between the two rooms, three peope per room.
Quite a pain.
On the other hand, we WERE able to only use one card per meal. They just took off 6 credits instead of 3, and we alternated cards. I have heard this varies by server, but we never had a problem at the 6 TS dinners we did, or any of the multiple CS we purchased.

Teppanyaki - People are reporting on another loop that the lobster is no longer available for MYW Dining participants. I do not know where they are getting their info, but I don't want anyone to be disappointed when they get there if this is indeed true.

the only restaurant where there was some meals restricted was Wolfgang Pucks at Tomorrowland DTD. We could only purchase entrées below 27$. but at Tepanyaki we could have everything we want...at the Nina Dragons (China, Epcot) the some meals for 2 people were restricted..it varies from restaurant to restaurant.

We were 4 people, 2 rooms and 1 card was enough to pay with, no problems !

Sooo disappointed - we have a land/Sea package booked - just phoned DCL and we can NOT buy the dining plan for the DWD portion of our trip... : According to the rather rude person on the line, the land & sea package does not qualify as a package....

Appreciate your taking the time to share this -- indeed helps to keep this in perspective when planning! I've been working on a spreadsheet to add up all potential prices of meals, so I can decide when to use plan points and when to pay OOP, and getting prices down as accurately as possible makes a difference! (I wasn't convinced before doing this exercise that it makes sense to use 2 table service meal points on California Grill (our favorite!) but after doing the math I found that it indeed made for a great deal...).

We just returned last week, and I can confirm that the lobster is no longer on the Teppanyaki dinner menu with the sirloin. It is still an add-on, but that would not count as part of the dining plan. And you can't have sushi as an appetizer either, mostly only the soups and salads available.

Also, I kept my room key in the small cell phone pocket in my purse, with my phone, and had no problems with the key. And now each person gets a key with their own name on it, unlike last year when all keys were in the name of the reservation.

How many meals do you get for an 11 night stay? Does it go by the number of nights you'll be there (ie then 11 cs, 11 ts and 11 snacks) or by the days (ie then 12 ts, 12 cs and 12 snacks) Thanks, I'm in the process of planning my ADR's and got confused as to how many credits I'll have.

You'll have 11 each, as it goes by the number of nights!

I am booking the platinum package for next year. I am little confused about the dining plan .Last year on the premium all places counted as 1 credit. On the description of the platinum plan it list a table of the res but now some i dined at last year are now 2 credits . Like Jiko is counted as 2. Does anyone have any more information or do you think this will be revised. Or am i worrying to soon?

Has Disney resolved the questions about the snacks on the meal plan?

I see many places listed as having snack credits but can we order the special things or only the popcorn, mickey bars, or bottled water and soda pop?

For example it lists in EPCOT Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe or Cantina de San Angel as plaes to get Snack for snack credits.

bleeps, don't stress too much. We just got back and I had planned the meals as well to see when to pay OOP and when to use TS credits. The restaurants offer so much food (we had 4 adults, 1 child) at each meal; we wound up sharing most of the time and not paying OOP at all. In fact, most of the servers recommended this so we didn't feel the least bit uncomfortable.

We also had our credits separated by room and yes, it was a pain at first. I kept track on my itinerary and compared to the receipts. Really wasn't a problem once we got used to it...

The meal plan is great and a really good deal. The only way to really see what is included and what isn't is to ask each time (especially snacks) I know this sounds like a pain, but really isn't.

It basically said now Disney has a way to tell how many adults' credits you have and how many children's credits you have. We have purchased the dining plan and now is a bit disappointed. This was written by a Disney certified TA.

Why are you disappointed? The child's rate of $10 per day or $11 in '06 will certainly pay for itself--especially when you do character dining!

Well what I meant was I heard many people have done this and it seems such a common practice but now things are changing. I understand some people argue that is seems to be cheating and I could see that point also. I was just trying to gather more information.

I am a little confused about having credit's on 3 different rooms. If you have a child in one room, and they ever do seperate it out, you'd always have to use each room at a meal? Is there any way you can get them to just put all 3 rooms on one card? Since they will not let children in a room alone, they put my son in one room with his 2 daughters, and my dil in one room with her son and us in a 3rd room. Of course that's not how we're staying. We will put the kids in the room in the middle with parents and grandparents on either end.(connecting rooms) The kids are 7, 14, 17 so not worried about putting them in between us. So each time we will have to use 3 cards?

When we were there last week, the servers did ask how many children in our party, but the credits didn't seem separated in any way. I think that was more to enforce the child ordering from the children's menu.

Most times we had 2 children in our party and they had to order from the children's menu if we were using the plan for them. My other 2 boys, considered adults, were allowed to share meals and use 1 credit so we never tried to pool the "children's credits" if they even exist. The only notation we could see on any paperwork was the total TS/CS used for the meal (on the server's copy) and the amount of TS/CS left (on my copy) No one said anything about adult vs children's credits. Hope that helps

We were a total group of 11 staying at the WL (4 to a room). We had connecting rooms and had booked things as a Grand Gathering on one reservation. When we checked in, the CM had the families split up into different rooms - I was listed with my SIL and youngest; my DH was listed in another room with my DS - yikes! I tried to get things straightened out, but the CM said that since we were on the dining plan, everything was already set up that way and couldn't be changed.

It was a bit of a pain and yes, we had to use three cards. At least we all ate together so we could use one card until it was drained and then move on to the next. It helps if you know how may CS/TS you are planning on using before you go if possible.

Overall, we found the plan very good and would use it again, even with all that!

5DisneyNuts, Thanks! I was wondering what happened if you had to use 2 cards to cover one meal, is that OK? Maybe you've been using one card and only have 2 credits on it so you need to use it up plus start on another.

5Disneynuts is correct. We were able to use 1 card per meal, but our credits were divided between rooms. I was told that they could use more than one card if the one card didn't have enough.

You do know that you cannot have 3 rooms connecting, right? The "middle" room can only connect with one room. The third room would be considered "adjoining" and that is not guarenteed, just a request. MAKE SURE you request the 2 rooms with your kids and grandkids to be CONNECTING and for your room to be ADJOINING.
Just a warning, in case you were expecting something else!
