This is the first chance I've had to post this but I have to take the opportunity to say a huge thanks to everyone at the HoJo. We arrived in the states on 26th October and 3 days later (whilst in a shabby motel in Twenty Nine Palms) I was taken ill with what later turned out to be pnuemonia. The following day we made our way to the HoJo. Right from the start they were unbeleiveably helpful and accomodating. They helped with finding a doctor to see me in the room and, when our internet connection wouldn't work so my DH could contact family at home, the engineer was there within 10 mins to sort it out. We ended up staying 2 nights longer than planned but the staff made sure we kept the same room and, on checking out, charged us the same 'special' rate as we'd paid for the previous nights. They could have charged us twice the price as we were at their mercy really but no the same rate was charged.

The maid too was wonderful. I explained to her on the first morning that, due to my high temperature, the sheets were damp and she changed them for me....the following 2 days she did this without me asking and, despite having limited english, she asked me each day if I was feeling better...she really couldn't have been nicer.

The hotel itself was wonderful, the rooms comfortable and the water park and pool were my DD's favourite part of our trip. She got to spend several days there with my DH whilst I was in bed sleeping! Even the lady in the shop asked her each day how I was feeling. They went in each day to get some drinks and snacks for round the pool and she told her on the first day that I was in bad ill and the lady asked her each day how I was doing. She even gave her extra candy on halloween....'for your Mom'.

So I'd say it's 11 out of 10 for the HoJo......They made what was a terrible time for us more than bearable. Thanks again! :flower3:

That is so terrible that you were so ill!!! I'm really glad you are feeling better now.... That is great that everyone at Hojo's were so helpful! I have always found it to feel more like a family/privately owned condo type place than a hotel. It really does feel like our "vacation home" in California! I really hope you felt better while still there and got to spend enough time in Disneyland!

Sorry to hear you were sick, but it's great to hear how they handled it! Thanks for sharing :)

Wow! So sorry to hear you were ill. Hojos has always been our place to stay. They really are great. We probably stay there about 5 times a year. Last trip was a last minute fling and they did not have rooms. We stayed somewhere else. Nice, but no Hojos! Only one! :dance3:

Sorry to hear you were so ill!! That's horrible!

But it's great that you had a place to hang your hat - a place to call home - in the Hojo.

We don't stay anywhere else. The customer service is above and beyond what you can get anywhere else. Lorealle and staff are all about making sure their guests are happy. :goodvibes

I'm sorry you were so sick!!!! Kudos to the HoJo for being the best hotel!!!! :) They really do show that the magic extends outside the parks. :) I hope you are feeling better!

I agree with you about the excellent service from the Hojo's team! When we were there for our family trip last May, my DD6 left her favorite stuffed animal, a giraffe that she'd had since she was an infant. We didn't realize it until we were over two hours away, and weren't even she it was there and not hidden in the luggage so turning around was not in the cards. After reasearching what it would cost to replace it, $150 because apparently it has become rare, we made a few calls to the team to see if they could find it, leaving our address and phone #. The very next day, much to DD's delight we got the call that it had been found and shipped to us. No charge for the shipping. MADE DD'S day!! Talk about Disney magic!!

We have a feel good story to share, too. Your story is wonderful, BTW, thanks for sharing! I am so happy they found it for her because a new one would not have been the same for her. She wanted her giraffe, and she got it. That is so cool! :goodvibes

When we were there from Oct.12-19th, we had perfect service from start to finish. First of all, they offered to put our groceries up to our room for us. It was such a big help, we really appreciated it. Secondly, the rooms were spotless. At one point during our stay, room maintenance, (different from housekeeping), was vacuuming our the vents to the air conditioner. One day during our stay, I left our safe wide open with passport, cash, and all sorts of electronics. It remained untouched. We had the same housekeeper that we had during our last stay, and she had impressed me then, and the impression remains. :) Always a smile on her face. Super nice! So was the other housekeeping staff that we saw. Prior to our trip, Lorealle and staff are super to deal with. Upon check in and check out, everything is great. The fridge, microwave, cool coffee maker, *excellent* super soft beds, and nice quality toiletries are nice, too. The free high speed internet in room is fantastic, so are the phones with no extra charges. They have free computer kiosks, too, for those who don't want to bring a laptop or netbook. The best thing about Hojos, besides their great rates and specials they offer to us DISers is one thing, and one thing only that stands out above and beyond what other hotels offer. Should there be any concerns or issues that crop up - their team is there for you. We loved the restaurants in the area as well. Location, location... it's only a 7-8 min. walk from the hotel to the parks, which is easily doable even for someone like me who is pooh sized and who walks around the parks all day long. (Advil is my friend!) :woohoo:

The giraffe story was so cool. I am so happy they found it. Good stuff!!

We, too, have experienced exceptional service at our recent stay at Hojo's (November 12th-22nd). We stayed in a Kid's Suite, which was absolutely fantastic - super clean, very spacious, very funky decor, 2 flat screen tv's - not to mention separate rooms for kids and parents. Every single staff member we encountered, from Lorealle at the early booking stage, to the housekeeping, maintenance, reception, Main Street store and Castaway Cove staff were excellent, we never had to worry about a thing. My 11 year old actually made friends with Danielle, one of the pool area attendants, and was very sad to not be able to say goodbye on our last day.

We also unintentionally left valuables out in the room a couple of times, and these were left untouched. The housekeeping staff do a very thorough job, I was almost reluctant to leave my beds unmade every day because I didn't want them to think we were ungrateful (I did say almost, lol).

The beds are ridiculously comfy (I had trouble sleeping in my own bed for a couple of nights on our return home), and the coffee makers are excellent, I only wish they sold them here in Australia (yes, I have checked!)

We are already looking forward to our next stay at Hojos, need to start saving all over again though!

Cheers Liz

We were at HOJO about a month ago. The first day, my kids were more interested in playing at Castaway Cove than at Disneyland! (We actually came across a couple of other families with a similar story.) When I joked with Lorealle about this on the hotel's Facebook page and "threatened" to stay somewhere boring next trip, we chatted back and forth and eventually made a date to ride Splash Mtn later in the week. Unfortunately, she became ill and had to cancel, but agreed on a rain check for "next time." And you know what? I have no reason to believe that she doesn't honestly mean it, and I'll one day be sitting on Splash in front of her and her yellow poncho, swim goggles and shower cap (Lorealle HATES getting wet!) Everyone we encountered at HOJO was so nice!

We too accidentally left the safe wide open one day and DH left his wedding ring sitting by the sink. Didn't lose a thing! The housekeeping staff was terrific!

Love the HOJO!!

This is the best thread to come back to after the holiday weekend!

You have no idea how much all of your kind words and feedback mean to all of us here! Thank you so much for sharing your stories! I can't wait to print out this thread to post up in the breakroom so that everyone can see it! :goodvibes

Oh we are DEFINITELY going to ride Splash Mountain together the next time you're here! Grizzly River Rapids....probably not, haha! But Splash Mountain? Absolutely! :woohoo:
