We are thinking of booking a cruise on the Fantasy when bookings open tomorrow, but we've never travelled on the larger ships, so have no idea where we want to book.

On the Magic / Wonder we usually travel Deck 2 Oceanview aft, in a 9C. Our next cruise we are trying a Deck 5 forward Oceanview to be closer to the kids clubs.

So, what are the equivalents on the larger ships? The extra decks confuse me! :) We would be looking at an oceanview again, 4 of us, so need a room with the bunk beds, and would like somewhere quiet-ish so the kids will sleep.

Anyone got a go-to room that they could recommend? Thanks.

check this out. does it fit the bill? its deck 5 (obviously) forward and in an area where your not going to get a lot of foot traffic. short walk to the kids club.

eta--guess is should leave the link...hahaha.

I have yet to stay in them, but I think the category 8 staterooms are a great category on the newer ships. They have a bit more space than the category 9 staterooms and a wonderful huge porthole. The room referenced above is a category 8A and has those big portholes. However, the 8As don't have a split bathroom and don't have the curtain between bed and sofa. For me these are deal breakers.

For our next cruise we are booked into an 8B on deck 9 forward. I like forward as we are only a couple without kids and like to hang out in the adult pool area. I find the forward section to be generally quiet.

I like deck 9 on the newer ships as it is not directly under the pool deck (so no noise from moving deck chairs or such), but is also just two easy flights of stairs up to the pool deck. I find that on the newer ships there is no perfect location that makes it comfortable to get everywhere. You need to pick where you want to be close to.

For a family I think one of the aft 8B on deck 9 would be a great choice as it puts you close to Cabanas, family pool and drink station. If you want to be close to the kids clubs, deck 5 aft would be a good choice, too. Those would be category 8D.

We like the 2nd floor on the Fantasy. You are close to the lobby and MDRs as well as the Oceaneers Club.

Thank you all. After all that, we ended up booking on the Wonder instead - the dates fitted in better with plans with other family. But I will keep all this in mind for when we do travel on the Fantasy, which I'm sure won't be too far away!

Have fun on the Wonder!

if you check out the video, while there is no curtain there is a wall between the two. that allows for two t.v.'s, one on the wall at the end of the bed, which can be a bonus for some families. your correct in the one bathroom however i look at it like i'm in a hotel room. you only get one there.
not for everyone though and very glad of that or i would never be able to book it, they would always be gone. lol. :flower3:
