Anyone stayed in either of the rooms that I mentioned. About to book and would like input from people who have stayed in these rooms please.

thank you

I had to choose between these two cabins for our May 2015 cruise.

We chose 9652 because the balcony has the plexiglass...9664 has a white wall that runs along the bottom of the balcony. Also 9652 looks less obstructed.

a con to 9652 is noise though..because your door opens right up to the elevator lobby and there is a detective game right there that attracts people

go here and look at the 3rd picture. 2nd row of balconys from the top..you can see how 9652 is to the right of the windnow and 9664 is to the left of the windows

These are 7a's, adjoining the OV 8b's. 9652 is just forward of the OV's, and 9664 just aft of the OV's. The more forward cabin, 9652, sleeps 4 with a bunk, 9664, 50 ~ feet more aft sleeps only 3 using the couch, no bunk. 9652 has a clear plexi veranda, no knee high whitewall which 9664 has.

Have you seen these exterior photos with the cabins labeled?

Have you read room reports from either the Dream or Fantasy?

9652 does open to the stair/elevator lobby which is slightly unwanted by us, but the convenience will likely more than make up for any possible accidental exposure/peeping toms. lol

9664 balcony will be more protected from wind while underway compared to 9652.

We would choose 9652. Better visibility to the sea with the clear plexi, and less obstructed balcony view, a ceiling bunk, as close as you can get to the stairs. Maybe a hair less motion, being a touch closer to midship.
We have not stayed in these cabins, but those are my thoughts.

My ILs just stayed in 9664. We stayed next door in 9662.

9664 does not have a full balcony view because it is partially blocked with a large circular sort of wall on the Left (which was our room 9662, which was a family oceanview room) It was also not full plexiglass on the bottom.

They said that it was cheaper because of that.

We have stayed in a room that has the whitewall verandah on the Fantasy. It only comes up to about shin height and it does not affect your view while sitting down.

We stayed in 9652 on the Fantasy in January 2013. I was worried about the noise from the elevator & detetective game right outside the door but we heard nothing. We ended up loving the location & the verandah is full size with just a tiny obstruction. It didn't bother us at all because we booked it as a 7a. We did have some vibration but I think that was because of the aft location. The only thing that we had to be aware of was if someone was changing, you do not want to open the cabin door since there were people doing the game and they could see inside the cabin. I would definitely book this room again!

thanks for the info. I was worried about the noise. I am trying to visualize WHERE the detective game is? Is it by the elevators, or is it right next to 9652's cabin door?

We stayed in 9152 (also category 7A) directly across the hall just 2 weeks ago. From outside our door (or even via the peephole), we could see 9652's door. I just put a review on the stateroom review list so check it out (for 9152). We loved the room. Here my daughter is doing the midship detective pic outside room 9652. On the other side of the pic is the elevator shaft. To her left is a wall that is a few feet long and then is open to the hallway and the door for room 9652. Directly behind her is the flight of stairs. Between that wall on her left and 9652's door is of course about 3 feet width of hallway. So with the wall, the hallway width and the door shut, you do not hear Beaker (or any other characters).

Same goes for 9152 as there is a midship detective pic on that side of the hall as well. We never heard it inside the room, nor the elevators, nor people on the stairs.

The only time the room location ever bothered me was when someone in the cabin would be changing clothes and someone else in my family would walk in leaving anyone in the stairs area to see right in for a minute.

But all the pluses of the location and the price were right. My husband, who never remembers what room we're in, even door covered with magnets, said this was the best location we've ever had in terms of being able to easily find it. I have many pics off the balcony if anyone wants them to see the 'obstruction' though I think ppl have posted it before. Does this help?

YES! That helped greatly!!!!! THANK YOU. I would (and I'm sure the OP) would love to see the verandah pics!

Here are 4 photos from 9152 which mirrors 9652 and has the same obstruction. It blocks maybe 1/8 or less of the total view. Sorry I didn't get the top view, but that's not really blocked at all. As you can see from the pic of St. Thomas, you still get an amazing view off the verandah!!
