Fantasy June 29, 2013 Meet Up!

Hi everyone, I hope everyone has a wonderful Holiday Season!!
We were booked for this cruise, but had to change it to the sailing prior to this one because we have a wedding to go to the 6th of July. I hope everyone has a lovely time on the cruise. I wanted this itinerary more, but on the plus side, we get to sail a week earlier on the Fantasy. Blessings to all and Happy New Year! ;)

PS: We had signed up for the FE, so whoever is in charge of that remember not to include us since we switched.

We'll miss you!:(

Ok, well we are less than 6 months away from sailing, so we need to get ourselves a name! ::yes::

Let's say we'll collect names through the end of January, then I'll set up a link to vote.

So, put your thinking caps (aka mickey ears) :earsboy: on and start posting your best ideas for cruise names. I will make a list in one of the first posts and we can have a group vote.

ok, so this is a lot of 1st for us - 1st Disney Cruise, 1st Cruise EVER and 1st time writing on a forum so forgive me in advance for any "fo-pahs"

Here are the members of our crew: myself (DW), DH, DD age 20, boyfriend of DD age 19, DS age 19, friend of DS age 18, DD age 10, DS age 8 and my mom age (shhh)

We are in staterooms #2530, #2532 and #8083 - (this took quite a hit on the pocketbook so any hints to stretch the budget would help )

We would like to participate in the FE but we may need help as to what type of items are given/how often/do you give to the same room each day/etc

Also, we are in favor of the name Cruisella Daville - its catchy and creative

we also requested to join the facebook page so we look forward to checking in/communicating with everyone

:sail:

question: how are yall adding the countdown to the bottom of your replys?

Welcome!!!!

Yes, these vacays are a bit pricy aren't they? Since this is your first cruise, you'll likely want souvenirs. We don't get many anymore because we've been on several cruises. However, we do get a new CC towel each year. Maybe you can have each if the kids save for souvenir money and you can match them? Drinks can really bring up the tab, so if you aren't a big drinker, that will help. Also, you can try to utilize points for airline and Disney to defer some of the cost.

Glad you're participating in the FE. It's all for fun. People give anything from little store chachkes to handmade crafts to survival items. You can give as often as you want in any date you choose. The only rule are that you have to give every cabin that is participating some FE gift.

We will publish the list to those who sign up about 70 days before we sail with all the guidelines and info.

Yay, welcome aboard! I'll get your info put on the first page. When you request to join the Facebook page, be sure to check your "other" inbox. I send everyone a message confirming Dis-Names to keep lurkers out. It won't go to your main Facebook email because Facebook now charges $1:crazy2: to email someone not on my friends list!!!!

To add a signature, click on USER CP at the left of the blue menu bar above. Then click "edit signature" It will give you a link to create a countdown.

Cool. Please go to the second post in this thread to sign up for the FE. Thanks!

DS is 10, DD 8. Funny our flight gets in about 4:30 too. We'll definitely plan on meeting you poolside then, hopefully with some adult beverages!

WOO HOO - just booked our rooms at Hyatt MCO. We are a party of 5 and they were able to give us connecting rooms, one w/ a king and one w/2 doubles. The second room was at a discounted price so that was a nice bonus :thumbsup2 So another item checked off of my to-do list :cool1:

I'm looking forward to the meeting you all poolside :thumbsup2

OK, I'm terrible at coming up with names. Didn't we talk a while back about something that encorporates both the 4th of July and the location.

I think it was "Patriots of the Caribbean" or something like that :goodvibes

Welcome to the group!!!! I'm not the best with advice for saving money though. Lets just say that I tend to make friends with the CMs in the gift shops because I am in there so much. In fact, one of them from our Dream Cruise in 2011 is one of my FB friends now :rotfl2:

We're about as bad - though we browse more than we buy!

You would have thought we were this bad on our second cruise, though - on our first, we sailed a 4-night Wonder cruise, and the next January we were on a 7-night Magic cruise. Almost immediately one of the CMs from the shops was all, "I remember you!" - she had been a YAC in the Club on the Wonder the previous summer! She remembered our daughter very clearly, and always chatted with us whenever we visited where she was working. I think she also started our DD's love of pin trading, as she was very good with a 5yo trying to navigate the pin book around a bunch of older kids!

I really think it was that cruise that sealed us sailing DCL, though - as as soon as we got on the ship and headed for Topsiders, our previous server was also on board - as a Head Server! He stopped us, said hi, checked our KTTW card to see if we were on his rotation (we weren't). It was a pleasant surprise - and I think both of these CMs made it feel more like we were coming home to the ship than we do even walking into our DVC resorts where we are owners.

Honestly, I really think the CMs make up half the great experiences on these cruises!

That really is the truth. We have had amazing experiences with the CMs, starting with our first cruise that was a little 2-night cruise to nowhere. DH was totally anti-cruising (but pro Disney) so he agreed to do that one with us. Then a few months later my Mom and I took the kids on B2B cruises on the Dream. After that 2-night experience and hearing all about the Dream, he was hooked. He has now been on 2 more 7-night cruises with this cruise being his 4th total. Disney definitely works its magic, especially the CMs.

We have 4 magical memories certficates that we received from CMs on our cruises. Interestingly enough, all from CMs in the shops ;)
We have also been blessed with some amazing servers. Our favorite is on the Fantasy right now (some friends that just got off the ship met her too) but she told them that she probably isn't coming back. She was our server on our 2-night cruise as well as on our MR cruise, and I do think she was a primary part of the reason DH had a change of heart about cruising :thumbsup2

We have a CM on the Fantasy that we keep in touch with through the years. And yes, the relationships you make really make things special!

BTW - we have 18 cabins on our FE list already!:thumbsup2

Sorry to say, I was out voted on this one. We are going on a two week FL roadtrip to Tampa Bay, Clearwater, Vero Beach and WDW, but sadly no cruise. We are postponing until July 4th next year.

Please take us off the FE list. Have a great time, I am sure you will.

Jeff
