Fantasy June 29, 2013 Meet Up!

Our very first cruise, Disney or otherwise. Going with my parents and surprising our DD. :wizard: So excited!:cool1:

Not even sure how to use this board. Just stumbled upon it. What is the FB group name?

sham10299
Adults: 2 DH and myself
Children: 1 DD
Stateroom: Deck 7
This is our first cruise.

Welcome to the group!!!! How fun that it is a surprise for your DD! Our first cruise (well, first three) were surprises for the kids and I'll never forget the reactions when they found out we were going. :cool1: I can't wait to hear about her reaction. When are you planning to tell her?

Hi All,

We just got off the Fantasy this past Saturday. We booked this cruise while onboard. It's a great ship!! If anyone has any questions let me know. I'll be doing a TR in a week or so as well.

Here is our info.

Dis Name: ScottakaMickey
# of Adults & names. 2 Scott and Suzanne
# Kids & names/ages 1 now, DD(3 at end of May)
Stateroom # 7688 right now, but may change. It's a 4C
What DCL cruise # will this be for you? 4th
Do you want to participate in the FE? Yes, still recovering from our first, but I am sure we will join up now that we know what we did wrong. :)

Look forward Ito getting to know folks.

Welcome to you also!!!! I'm so glad to hear that you liked the Fantasy! I would love to hear more about the trip.
Oh, one thing that we have been trying to figure out is the very front of the ship (Deck 13). Is it true that it is completely adults only or can kids go up along the railing (outside of the plexiglass) to enjoy the view from the front of the ship? I have seen conflicting reports.

Well, our big news for this cruise is that it looks like we are going to add another person. My DD's BFF is going to go with us. It will be a new experience traveling as a group of 5. We already discovered that we have issues getting a room at the Hyatt MCO (they only take 4 to a room) so we may have to rethink that. It will also be a tight squeeze in the room when it comes time to get ready for dinner.

But my DD does not make friends easily (kind of shy) so on our MR cruise last month, she spent a lot of time in the room (drawing and listening to music). She was fine with that, but I really wanted her to enjoy the kids areas. The only time I ever saw her really do that was on the Dream last year when we had another family there (with kids her age) that we already knew. So she had friends to hang out with.

So I am thrilled that she will have her BFF to pal around with and they (hopefully) will spend time enjoying hanging out in the teen area of the ship.

Yes, Deck 13 forward is part of the adult area. I wasn't up there too much, but here is what I saw/heard. Saw a parent with their child walking in the area, kind of going forward and didn't see anyone asking her to leave, but wasn't there that long. I did hear that a parent had their child in the pool and was told that no kids were allowed. So, my take is likely you can walk through and watch, there is also viewing from Deck 12 too, so if there is a problem you should be able to go there. Didn't get out on that deck, but I think you would get there through Senses.

Anything we can help you with regarding the FE?

Nothing specific. We didn't label our items. Didn't package them, just placed them in each of the pockets for each of the people in the cabin. Most of the FE's we got were labeled and lots of them were more like a bag for everyone in the cabin. So, we kind of felt like we did it wrong, but do recognize that there really is no right or wrong. We will think more about this for the next time. We also didn't open the FE gifts until we got home. We have a 3 year old and just didn't want all of the stuff spread everywhere, along with the candy, so opted to put in a bag and brought the gifts home. There were great items in their that we should have opened to use on the cruise, so we missed out on that. Again, just a lesson learned for the next time.

Howdy! DH and I leave in one month and two days for our next cruise and we are thinking about booking this cruise (which would be exactly one year from the day of our upcoming cruise). It's either this or Alaska. We're not sure exactly which one yet. Anyways, I've enjoyed reading through the posts and I love that you guys are so active!

Hi and welcome! I can't wait to hear what you decide :)

Even if you don't decide to pick this one, please do drop back by and let us know how this year's cruise went :thumbsup2

My Mom and I are looking at Alaska or Hawaii for 2014 (finger's crossed that they have those again). I'm not sure I can swing a 15-night cruise but I would love to try Alaska too.

Whoo Hoo, closing in on the 1 year mark! Who else is excited?

We just got back from our WDW/Legoland vacation. I am exhausted, but the boys are already counting the days until we go back.

Anyone got any fun plans for this summer coming up?

We are SO excited - many thoughts of sitting on a beach with a frosty drink in my hand have been floating through my head. But we're still in school for another 2 1/2 weeks, so that may be part of it.

My eldest DD and I are headed to Orlando in less than a month for the Harry Potter convention, Ascendio. This is my 8th time going to the con, and my daughter's 3rd time, but this time I'm being brave and bringing along two of her friends. Sharing one hotel room with 3 teenage girls is going to be an interesting experience...

Going to be busy for us this summer. DD got word that her studio will be part of the DCA summer entertainment. So far they have more than a dozen dates on the calendar. Don't know a lot about it yet but the idea is they might be tied up for several hours on each date doing multiple performances. Very cool opportunity as guest performers.

DW and I are starting the summer with our anniversary cruise on RCL then ending it with a DCL cruise. Just the two of us traveling both times. Heading over to DLR this Wednesday all day to celebrate our actual anniversary. Nice to have older kids we can leave behind and not worry too much. Honestly, we would love to take them but they are just too busy.

So yeah, this summer will be pretty insane.

Welcome home!!!! So how was it? How was the pirate room?? And did you take the plunge (I think you left me hanging on that conversation, LOL)??

Wow...congratulations to your DD!! You will have to let me know when her studio will be performing so that I can watch for them :thumbsup2

We are heading to DCA on Sunday for the AP Preview of Carsland. But then we probably won't be back too much over the summer since I'm sure it will be crazy there, LOL.

Hey Everyone...it got quiet here. I know I'm been concentrating on the Wonder cruise first (out booking window opens on Monday - woo hoo) but wanted to check this thread too.

I like our countdown for this cruise today....1 year, 1 week and 1 day :cool1::cool1::cool1:

We are finally closing in on the 1 year mark :banana:

So I am thinking about booking this cruise after a WDW stay prior so I decided to come and check out this thread! So funny to see you here too! If the Sept cruise and this cruise come through, we will have been on 3 cruises together! So funny!

I won't know about this cruise until my 11 month window opens up for AKL. Right now my plan is to stay at AKL from June 22 - 29 and then board this cruise. So I'll know next month. Crazy that all inside and OV rooms are gone already! I really want to do the Fantasy and since I've already paid for airfare to FL, I might as well take advatage of that!

Oh wow...that is too funny. When I first saw the screenname, I had to look at the top of the thread again because I thought this was the Wonder meet thread :rotfl2:

See, great minds think alike....or cruise alike :thumbsup2 Now if I could just find a way to get on the PC cruise in December :lmao:

Keep an eye on the inside and OV rooms for this one. They have been popping on and off. We booked our 4B for this one on opening day and then rebooked while on the Wonder in April. But right after our MR cruise, we decided to let my DD's BFF come with us on this one and I managed to snag an inside room across the hall from our 4B. But from day to day it would change (from none available, to quite a few). After we got ours, the next time I looked they showed as all booked again. :confused3

I've got my finger's crossed that it works out for both cruises for you :thumbsup2

Closing in on the one year mark! Who else is excited?

We just found out my sister planned her wedding on June 21st next year, so we will be having a BUSY summer! She's getting married on St. Simon island in Georgia, so we're traveling down that week, back home for a week, then back south for the cruise the next week! Let's hope my sanity remains intact!

We have just book BCV for just before christmas this year and we are so excited! We love WDW around the holidays, the decorations are awesome!

WOW....almost to the year mark. LOL - I have to admit, I have been watching the coverage of the tropical storm this week and hoping like crazy that we don't have that to deal with next year :rotfl2: I hope that hasn't been causing you in any trouble. DS was watching the news with me and I told him that I hope we don't have any storms next year at this time. Then he went all  on me and said "I thought we were going on Spring Break!!! You mean I have to wait until next summer!!" Opps, LOL.

Yikes, that will be a busy summer for you guys. But I'm sure you will pull it off just fine. At least it is in a good order. Get through the wedding stuff first and then relax on board the Fantasy :thumbsup2

Actually right now we are on Jekyll Island, one island south of St. Simon off the Georgia coast. We did get hit by the storm, and have had a few indoor days, but the sun came out today and we hit the beach!

I am hoping for good weather next year too, but I do believe they have the ability to try and go around it if it is localized. I was on a cruise once where we had to skip a stop but gained a different one. I hope that doesn't happen. I am really excited about all our ports on this cruise!

:thumbsup2 One year from today, we'll be taking our first, ever cruise to celebrate our 25th anniversary! :thumbsup2
