Barbara Atkins
Fantasy 9156 A or 9154 A on June 29th 2013 with 3 kids listed. Let me know if you need more info. Again this is first time if you find my info and I hope you do, because I filled out form several days ago. Thanks.

got it.:)

It is hard to pack for a 10 day vacation. Does everyone get dressed up for formal night?

We've learned to pack for three days fewer than the actual vacay - rewear and do laundry once - makes it much easier. It's the extras that take the space. For formal night, we dress like a nice party, not a prom - though some do dress for the presidential inauguration. Semi-formal is toned down a bit and includes a princess dress.

For our precruise days, we treat and pack those totally seperately so we don't have to open more than one bag. That bag also included what will go in the day pack on the first day of the cruise.

All of that being said, I'm usually completely packed about a month in advance - this year I've just thrown things in a suitcase on the side of the room. I'm hoping eventually everything on the list will get checked off.:scared1:

So we are going to be gone for a total of 19 days for this vacation. 3 days prior at Universal, 7 Night eastern, 7 Night western, then 1 day to drive back.

I am packing:
1 dress pants
2 dress shirts
1 full suit
3 REI convertible pants
2 REI short-sleeve button up shirts
2 polo shirts
3 t-shirts

The REI clothes are quick dry so a quick hand-wash in the sink, hang 'em to dry overnight and the next day they are good to go. The pants are convertible so I will wear them as shorts during the day and zip the legs on for casual dinner night. I could probably ditch the 2 polo shirts but I figured everyone would get tired of seeing me in the same shirts even if I did wash them every night :) I may ditch the extra dress pants as well and just re-wear the suit pants on semi-formal night. We'll see. They get worn for 3-4 hours so unless I spill something on them they should be fine to wear again.

We plan to do full laundry on our changeover day between cruises.

Oh my gosh Jim... I am so jealous... Mostly of the 19day vacation trips, but even a little jealous of your packing.

suitcase with the FE's because it really adds to the cruise. My DD loves it. She loves giving out the gifts and coming back to the room and finding gifts.

My kids love coming back to the room to find the gifts...but I have the hardest time getting them to help me prepare and deliver them. So I always end up doing all the work. So along with out luggage restrictions, I decided to give myself a break this time. I will see how the kids feel about it when we are actually on the cruise and they don't get any gifts. Maybe then they will help me when we go to Alaska next year ;)

I'm sure I will miss it more than them though.....

This is the first cruise that we decided not to. We are going to attend the matinee that day (if they have one) and then hang out by the pool that evening and hopefully enjoy the aquaduck.

Again, for luggage reasons, we decided to spare the luggage space and skip it. After our packing issues going on the Dream in 2011, we are really doing things different this time (no FE, no Formal Night, no pirate costumes). Well DH is bringing his costume and DS will be going to Pirate's Leage, but the girls and I will just be wearing pirate t-shirts and accessories instead of full costumes. It will be a big change for us.

So far I have my clothes kind of grouped together in the closet. I have DD's clothes in a pile on her cedar chest and DS's clothes in a box on his floor, LOL. DH is on his own for his clothing.
I do have a storage box that I have had going since our last cruise with the other (non-clothing) items that we will need, like sunscreen, water bottles, etc.

OH....one more step towards vacation. I got our Super Shuttle booked for our ride to the airport :cool1: :cool1:

I forget we can do laundry, although it has gotten very crowded and I have had to wait for the washer/and or dryer. We are not planning to get full on dressed up for formal night. my husband will wear dress pants and dress shirt and we my DD and I will wear a nice dress.

We are doing Alaska in 2014. I would have liked the Hawaii one also but since it was only offered during the school year, that wouldn't work for us. I'm also still hoping for a PC cruise someday, but those are usually during the school year too. I used up our last OBB for Alaska so I will probably book another dummy when we are on the ship, just to have one.

I hear a lot of people talking about booking a dummy cruise on the ship. What is the best reason for doing this? This will be our fifth DCL cruise, and we've never done this, or even considered this.

As for formal night, suit and tie, gown, etc. for us. Once, on a RCCL cruise to Alaska, we rented tux. This was actually a lot of fun and worked well because they had two formal nights and the tux came with different options/looks for you to wear each night. We are also bringing costumes for Pirate night!

We are driving down for the cruise, so luggage restrictions will not be an issue for us. Haven't started packing yet, but agree with others who commented on the FEs and the space they take up. We'll probably pack that separately in their own bag. We'll be visiting FL prior to the cruise too. I like the idea of packing separately for pre-cruise and cruise vacation.

This will be our first FE cruise. What kind of stuff do you normally get? We're thinking stocking stuffer type stuff. Do you make deliveries every day, once? Enquiring minds want to know.

Cheers

Welcome to the wonderful world of Fish Extenders! It's all about fun and spreading the magic. The only rule is that you have to e change with every cabin on your list. Whether you do store-bought or homemade, once or once a day, or for the cabin or for the individuals is completely up to you. Just have fun with it.

By booking the dummy, you lock in the DCL OBC and 10% off the price of the future cruise. You also only have to put down a 10% deposit instead of 20%. I had a dummy cruise that I booked on our Sept cruise last year and then when the scheduled opened for 2014 (in October), I had my TA move that dummy cruise to our Alaska cruise so we got 10% off the fare and a $200 OBC (in addition to the OBC we get from our TA). :thumbsup2

Since 2015 has been released yet, I'll book a dummy cruise to hold the benefits and then when they release 2015, I decide what cruise to apply it to.

There a a couple of threads on here with wonderful ideas about what people have done. If you look on pinterest, etsy, ebay or google fish extender gifts you will get some good ideas. Hope that helps

Some people are crafty and make gifts and some give out cruise, pirate or Disney related trinkets. We are making a few different things :)

I think we can roll with those suggestions. Do we have a grand total yet? We are actually leaving in 16 days (WOOOHOOOOOOO) and want to have plenty of time to gather goodies.

Cheers

Craig, I sent out the second group list two days ago. Did you not get it?

Craig...
I have seen your Jordan's posts to other teens trying to connect before the cruise, but our Jordan doesn't have a Facebook acct. can you send me your email so I can give you our DD email and yours can write to her. I am a newbie on the Disboards so I cannot PM yet.

Thanks,
Christi

Yes, I got that. So we're doing two separate groups then. I thought I saw somewhere we were combining. That makes perfect sense now. DOH!

Yes - it's two separate groups. However some folks on the first list are also on the second. So the only people who have the entire group are those on both lists.

Ahhhh!! Makes sense, especially if your definitely planning another DCL cruise. 10% off the price is significant consider the cost of a DCL cruise. The OBC is another nice bonus.

Thanks for explaining.
