Fantasy - July 14, 2012

Welcome linkandclover. My 2 will be the exact same age as yours for the sailing. We actually have a lot of kids in this age group. Hopefully we can get them all talking as the dates get closer. Are you going through the big transition this year as well, one going to high school, the other to middle? I am freaking out!

K in SA

My oldest is starting high school and my youngest is still in elementary as middle school starts at 7th grade. If your boys want to talk to mine let me know through PM. This will be our 8th cruise so let me know if you have any questions. We are going to be on the Dream in 5 weeks.

Just wondering if anyone is going to keep a list of cruisers and do planning such as meet and greet, FE's or anything else. I would volunteer but my organization is not too great.

I think noah's mom is keeping us organized as far as the list goes, but I think she is off on the Dream cruising right now.

We are getting closer to our cruise day though. The year is off my ticker :cool1:

Wow, so glad we are going next summer. The prices for summer 2013 are crazy and my room got recatagorized so it would be $2000 more than what we are paying now!!! This way when I am convincing my husband to keep the reservation I can say that really we are getting a deal!!!

Just wondering if anyone is out there. With winter approaching it would be nice to focus on being somewhere hot this summer.

We're still out here. We just lucked into an additional Florida Residents deal on a New Year's cruise, so my primary focus is on FE's and packing for next month. Definitely looking forward to July though.

We will be on this cruise as well! We have 4 kids, ds 14, dd 11, ds 10, and dd 6 (ages at cruise time). Looks like Vibe and Edge will be very busy- glad to see so many teen/pre teens on our cruise! We were on the Dream for Thanksgiving and my (soon to be) 14 yo is still texting friends that he made in Edge. Looking forward to a fantastic vacation!

Welcome aboard. My 2 sons will be 12 and 15 at the time of cruising.

Happy New Year to everyone:banana::banana::banana:

Hey there. We booked this on our 2010 Christmas cruise and went on the Dream last July. Lots of us going this time. Two staterooms, one on deck 7 and one on deck 8. Count us in!
My son Nick (Cruisin'Nick) will probably post a lot in the coming months, he's our Cruise Director, I'm just along for the Aquaduck ride! (And to pay the bills). We are SO excited!

Welcome aboard!! This thread is rather slow moving right now but hopefully it will start to pick up now that holidays are over.

I just discovered this forum so be gentle with me. Our family has been Disneyphobes since 1973 now we are taking our DGD 11:cheer2: and DGS 11:cool2: on another cruise. Hope to get to meet you all and have the kids get to know each other.

Just over 6 months til we set sail on the beautiful Fantasy!! I can not wait!! BTW, I'm Nick, Meemous' son. I'll be doing most of the posting seeing has how I'm the CD. Glad to see we got this Thread goin. This will be our 4th DCL cruise in 3 years. We've never cruised anything but DCL, but we are still rookies when it comes to it. We are HUGE Disney freaks, mom and I used to live in FL and had Florida resident passes..the whole nine. ANYWAYS, off subject! Can't wait to see the beautiful ship, I know she's going to be wonderful. Hope everyone has a good day!!

Welcome Nick. I think this is going to be our 8th cruise on Disney (I am embarrassed to say I am losing count). We were on the Dream last August and 5 days was not enough. We have strayed to other cruise lines and by far Disney is the best. Even my oldest son agrees and he will be 15 when we cruise.

Welcome to this board. I have a 12 year old and a 15 year old. I hope we can get this thread going and make some plans to get everyone together.

:sail:6 MONTHS TIL CRUISE--6 MONTHS TIL CRUISE :sail:

We are exactly 6 months out today, the 14th of January!! Getting excited. Since I first posted I have convinced my BIL and SIL and my mom and dad to join us!!!

My DS (15) and DD (12) are looking forward to contacting other Vibe/Edgers before the cruise starts. How do they go about doing that. :confused3 We are definitely first time cruisers...

Does your son have a face book account because mine (turning 15 as well) can contact him through it. My 12 year old son does not have one but may be able to use my husband's. Let me know if you have any questions. There s a lot of useful information all over this site but it takes time to find.

I haven't let him have a Facebook account yet. I did read about some cruisers making a private Facebook page for their group but I don't have any idea how to do that. :confused3 This is a Facebook challenged house...

I don't have one either. I will see if my husband knows how to figure this out. If you let me know what your son's interests are I can pass this along to mine and see if I can motivate him to email or get on this site (he does not use his email account at all).

Just got to thinking about packing and all, and I've learned a lot about it since our first cruise. I read a bunch of people bring all these things while cruising to be organized and all that good stuff. So the first cruise, mom and I packed EVERYTHING on the lists..ended up using 1/4 of the stuff we brought. So if this is your first or second time cruising. Think about what you're goin to bring if you're going by these lists and cut it in HALF. Some things work for families, some dont. Like I said before, we're still rookies to this, so don't take my word in stone, but we packed stuff that never came out of our bags til we got home and unpacked. I mean, we packed extension cords, cheap alarm clocks, hanging shoe organizers, a BUNCH of stuff. Never used it. Now I'm not saying dont bring it, if that's what you need or bring all the time, by all means, but like I said, we ended up not using a bunch and it just took up PRECIOUS bag space that we could've used for souveniers and all. We ended up having to buy one or two of the duffle bags from the gift shop to be able to bring everything home. I might be rambling, and this might not make sense..:confused3, sorry if it doesn't. I'm tired and its late here. All in all, just think about what you pack, and don't end up doin like we did our first cruise.

I agree with you. Keep packing to a minimum. I ascribe to the idea that a day at sea means a bathing suit and cover up. If you want more room for souvenirs try my solution. I routinely pack some old clothes to wear that I no longer want , wear them and them discard them. This results in my closet getting cleaned out, less laundry to do when I get home and room in the suitcase for all the new fun things I buy.
