Hi everyone! It's been a long time since I posted but I've updated the list in the 1st post. Let me know if something isn't correct. I will be more active now that we are getting close! My family has decided not to participate in a FE. Since we are doing 2 cruises it's just too much to coordinate and pack. It's very exciting to see so many 14 & 15 yr olds in the group! My 14 yr old DS is very excited about going to Vibe. He enjoyed Edge last year but REALLY wanted to go to Vibe.

Has anyone decided on excursions? We are going on a snorkel tour in St. Maarten and I think Noah is going to go on the Screaming Eagle in St. Thomas.

Some have mentioned a Facebook group, we had one for our cruise last summer and it was nice. The only drawback to a Facebook group is the activity on this discussion board stops. If you are all interested in a Facebook group I can get one started. Let me know.

Packing - I agree on packing lightly. That being said, there is one item I am adding to our suitcase this summer - a power strip. We've never needed more outlets but on the Dream we struggled keeping things charged. There doesn't seem to be as many outlets on the newer ships. We love the over the door shoe hanger. It's great for bottles of lotion, sun tan lotion, brushes, etc. - keeping the counters clear. I missed the corner shelves in the split bathroom on the Dream. I also do laundry when we cruise so I don't have to pack as much.

Welcome back. This thread is rather slow moving. If you are not doing FE's I can organize it if you like.
With regards to facebook it sounds like it is easier to keep everything in one spot.
My 14 year old (soon to be 15) loved vibe and the privacy the older teens were allowed to have (he claimed adults were not allowed to know where vibe was).
We do not have any excursions planned. Last time at St. Martin we took a cab to the French side which I don't think we will do again. I am betting my kids want to jet ski at Castaway Cay. What is the screaming Eagle?

Hey there Noahsmom - can you add disneyfanintn to the list on the first page. It will be me , dH and DS (will be 14) on the trip. We are super excited. We will be on Deck 5 in one of those extended balconies port side

Please excuse my ignorance. I am figuring out most of the shorthand that is being used but FE has stumped me. Help. We are on deck 6 forward but DGD & DGS told me DGD & DGM will be on deck 11 and they will be at the Edge. I guess I know who is running this cruise. ;)

FE stands for Fish extender. I am sure there are countless threads explaining this. In short it is some form of bag or pouch system you attach to the hook (it is a fish on the magic and wonder) outside the door to your cabin. Everyone involved in the FE exchange will leave gifts for the others involved in the FE exchange. The gifts themselves vary on what you want to give (food, crafts and novelties are most common). My family enjoys it as it is a fun surprise whenever you go back to the room.

As far as excursions go for our family, everytime we go to St. Maarten we do the Golden Eagle Catamaran. It's a nice leisurely 30 minute ride out to the company's private beach where we can swim, snorkel, and play in the sand for about an hour and a half before we speed back to port while enjoying free drinks and finger sandwiches. The whole excursion is a 4 hour time slot from the time you meet on the ship to the time you arrive back in port. Its a very enjoyable ride all together and you get a lil bit of everything kinda. Beautiful views both above and below the waterline.

As for the children on the cruise in my party, we will have my DB-14, and my two DS's-12 & 16. So they'll be excited to know theres gonna be some kids their ages on the ship they can hang out with!!

5 months!! (minus a day) Can not wait!!!
:dance3:

Look!! We have made it to page 4!!! :cool1:

It has been a weird two weeks because I luckily got a pin code for a room at WDW so we can do a little parking before and after the cruise, but weird because I have been so consumed with picking a room that I have put the lovely cruise part of my brain on hold!! Now that I have my rooms booked I am ready to get cruising! Linkandclover, if you are willing to organize the FE, I would like to participate. This is our first cruise so I have no idea how to organize, but I have been reading and have some neat ideas for what to make. If our group stays small I have some even better ideas about what to make!!!

I will start keeping a list of people for the FE. Anyone interested either send me a PM or post on this thread. Closer to the day of the cruise I will forward all of the information so that everyone has it. I know from past cruises that room numbers can get changed if people are given upgrades.

Rainy day here in San Antonio. Dreaming of sitting on verandah, sipping a cold drink and staring at the ocean. :cloud9: Ahhh...

This is our first cruise ever. My parents have been on two and they love them. We are getting married in May but the July 14th cruise is our honeymoon:lovestruc. Can any tell us what to expect, to look for, to do and what not to do?

Welcome board and congratulations!! :dance3::dance3:

Expect to have a great time. We love cruising because we can do as much or as little as we want to do. The staff and service on Disney is great but beware of the 5 lbs of extra weight you will put on.

There are a lot of threads out there with lots of information.

Hey all! Me and DH are counting down the seconds till this cruise! Our excuse is our third anniversary, but we are really just addicted to cruising. This is our first SEVEN DAY cruise! Woohoo! I really can't believe that we are doing another Disney cruise. They are by far my favorite!
We've done a 3 day Disney cruise, 4 day Celebrity, & 5 day Carnival in the past.
We are former CMs- we met on the college program. I am SO excited about this cruise! I am potentially interested in the F.E. on this cruise with you guys- I need to look into it a little more first. :cool1:

What shore excursions are you guys doing?

Oh- one last thing!
Who else has a magical porthole?! I can't wait to see this! I've never looked forward to staying in an interior room so much!:thumbsup2
