Fantasy - July 14, 2012

Ashley,

Link,

I am okay if it ends up being only 4 families. I can do 2 things for everyone then . I just got home from dd's dance class so I am off to investigate facebook :magnify:

If you can't figure it out just let me know. My oldest is back from the skate park and can probably figure it out.

The thing I am most curious about right now is how Lenny's gave your husband door inspiration. I have never heard of this restaurant, but now I need to go investigate. I am doing some magnets for our door, but interactive sounds exciting!!!
Well, the restaurant itself is a plain sub shop- not very inspiring. It was more of sitting down and talking about it. We were bouncing around ideas and I was drawing on napkins.

Yea, I definitely want to do 2 days!!!!! I've been stalking ideas and I already have a FE Pinterest page! This is turning into an obsession...
Does anyone else go around singing Fantasy (by Ludacris)? Seriously, ever since I found out we were going on this I walk around the house going "what's your fan-ta-SY?!":woohoo: haha I can't wait!

Let's plan for each family doing 2 days unless the group miraculously grows from here. I have a few ideas in mind although I won't be crafty but like to find neat trinkets for everyone.

Since we are now approaching the cruise date I was wondering if people have figured out what they are doing either before or after the cruise?:confused3

We received a happy pin code, plus we are traveling on miles so needed to fly mid-week both ways, soooo we are staying at the Pop for 3 days before the cruise and POR Royal Rooms for 4 days after!!! :cool1: Still figuring out how many days we are going to the parks. We did find out that our code also works on deluxe, but haven't' decided if we will upgrade or not.

Never been to the World in the summer and I am a little freaked out at the idea of the heat :scared1:.

The heat is bad- the crowds are worst! Utilize your fast passes & rides with air condition wisely! ;)

DH & I just went to Universal to see Harry Potter in December and had a blast. We are thinking about doing a day at Sea World and then just exploring the Orlando area some. We'll probably spend some time in Celebration, Fl. Also, there are a few restaurants that simply can't be missed!
We recommend going to O'hana @ Disney's Polynesian resort. It has AMAZING family-style food, but the best part is the atmosphere. It has glass windows and it overlooks the Seven Seas Lagoon & Magic Kingdom park. If you book a dinner reservation for around 8:30, you can watch the fireworks show AND they pipe in the music that people are hearing in the park!!!! It's an amazing experience. Then, you can take a stroll by the lake and lay in the hammocks afterwards and watch the light parade on the water. Pretty great evening- no park admission needed.
Boma at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is also exquisite. The food is WONDERFUL and the atmosphere is over the top. Afterwards, you can go outside to sit by the fire pit or check out the animals with night vision googles provided by the staff!!!! Again, no admission needed. :cool1:

Yeah!!!:cool1: First "join the group" request for our kids discussion board on facebook. Just want to make sure Kristie is our meet group since I only know disboard names for everyone and most likely parent's disboard names.

Kristie, just post here or PM me and I will get you in the group. Hopefully, once the growing pains are over you can all chat away to your hearts content!!!

Okay, now that I think we have finished the testing phase of the facebook page for the kids, I figure it is time for a formal invite to all the kids aboard this boat!! :sail:

There is a private facebook group called "14th Fantasy Friends" for all the kids sailing (we have about 30 right now in our cruise). It was started so that all those tweens and teens we happen to have sailing have a place to meet up before the cruise without having to post here where all the adults hang out. It is of course open to all the kids of all ages!

Here is the link to the page http://www.facebook.com/groups/256516047762307/

Please let me know here on the this board or by PM that you are a member of our crew and have sent me a request so that I can get you in the group. I am doing this so that the facebook page stays a safe place for our kids.

Don't worry if you do not have facebook page. Neither of mine do and they are using my page and just saying who they are at the beginning of their messages.

What are the ages of the kids in our FE so far? And how many adults do we have?

Wow the board is hopping now! If the FE list stays small I may participate. The last 2 times we've done it there's been over 40 and it's just too much.

Ashley - thanks for the pictures and stories! DS loves DQ, in fact that's what we are doing prior to the cruise. We own DVC at Saratoga Springs and AKL, so we are spending Friday night as SSR. We should arrive early afternoon and DS will spend the rest of the day at DQ while DH & I do some shopping. He loves CyberSpace mountain.

SA53 - we only go to WDW in July. It is hot and very humid. DH is a teacher so it's really the only time we can go. Make sure you are at the parks at rope drop, go back to the resort after lunch and swim or relax. Hit the parks again around supper time. Drink plenty of water and enjoy!

Rope Drop :scared1::scared1: This family of night owls (well, except for DH) does not compute rope drop!!!

I can tell I am worried about the heat when, yes, even I am contemplating rope drop. It is the "lot of rides vs grumpy mommy" type of discussion going on in my head.

We have only been at Spring Break, because I am an ex-teacher and won't take my kids out of school so I am not too worried about crowds. I have lived in Texas for the last 15 years, but like all smart Texans live in the ac when it is hot outside. We are relocated Canadians, who are still getting use to the fact that the coldest day in San Antonio, is pretty much a summer day in Canada. :confused3

Add to that the fact that my parents, both in their 80s, both from Canada, both night owls; have never done WDW before and I am fretting over making this a perfect holiday for them as well. (I am still freaking out about what resort to stay in to make it all perfect.) The best thing is that I am totally at peace with the cruise portion of the holiday from all the glowing reviews I have read on the boards.

In the end I figure I am hanging with the mouse so everything is good.:mickeyjum

We are night owls as well so rope drop will just not happen. We did the water park last summer. There were lines there as well but at least you stayed cool. Whatever you decide to do drink plenty of water.

My parents cruised with us a year ago and loved Disney. We stayed at animal kingdom because it is such a different environment having the animals to watch and they have a great pool for the kids.

By the way we are relocated from Canada (Winnipeg to be exact). Where up North did you come from?

We are not night owls, in fact we've only seen fireworks twice at WDW. That being said - they reason to get to the parks early isn't so much to avoid crowds, it's to avoid the hottest part of the day. You can get a good amount of rides in if you go right away in the morning, but it's the "coolest" part of the day. By the time lunch arrives the crowds are crazy and it's just too hot for us. Although, the last 2 summers it's actually been cooler in Florida than at home in Wisconsin.

I have a good friend that lives in Calgary. DS & I have been there twice to visit. Beautiful area, loved the stampede!

What resort are you considering? We love Animal Kingdom and Saratoga Springs, also Polynesian (if they ever made a Poly DVC we'd buy in!).

We are trying to decide where to stay. We are likely only going to be there for 2 night and 1 day and I would rather spend the money on excursions than a hotel. Despite that the Polynesian looks very interesting and my husband is a photography nut so I know he would love to get some shots of the fireworks.

Well, it is a small world!! I was actually born in Winnipeg, but grew up outside Edmonton, Alberta. My DH is from Calgary and we lived there for 3 years before relocating to Victoria, BC where my DS was born. Only DD is an American, the rest of us are "Camerican", a word my DS coined for a paper he wrote in the 2nd grade.

If it is going to be very hot, we may brave a rope drop. Probably after the cruise since we want to be well rested for the ship. We are currently staying in the Royal Rooms at POR Riverside but I am worried it is too spread out for my parents so we are thinking of moving to WL, CR or Poly. Everyone I am traveling with keeps saying "Whatever you think is fine. We trust you.", but I think that puts more pressure on me :scared1::scared1:

Getting more excited now that the Fantasy is on the east coast!!!

Welcome to our little group :grouphug: I think there are 3 of us who have our actual anniversaries on board. Ours in July 16th and is the big 24 years. There are a lot of tweens and teens on board so hopefully they will have fun meeting each other. My ds is 15 and my dd will be 12 and they can't wait for their first cruise.

Check out the thread. There is info on FE's and a facebook group for the kids.
